Azure Cloud Engineer

Description We are looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to support and enhance a complex Azure environment. This contract opportunity is ideal for a senior-level candidate who can combine hands-on delivery with technical guidance across cloud infrastructure, networking, and end-user computing services. The role focuses on designing, optimizing, and maintaining scalable Azure solutions that align with hybrid infrastructure needs and enterprise performance expectations.

Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and support Azure networking solutions across large-scale environments, including virtual WAN, hub-and-spoke connectivity, and enterprise routing patterns. Build and refine Azure landing zones, subscription structures, and connectivity models to promote secure, scalable cloud operations. Manage Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 platforms, including session host administration, identity integration with Entra ID, performance tuning, and end-user experience improvements. Administer Azure virtual machines and storage services while ensuring reliable operation across cloud and hybrid infrastructure landscapes. Partner with stakeholders to evaluate architecture choices such as Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, disaster recovery strategies, and broader network design decisions. Provide technical leadership by advising teams on Azure best practices while remaining actively involved in implementation and operational support. Support integration efforts between Azure services and enterprise platforms such as S/4HANA where cloud connectivity and infrastructure design are required. Troubleshoot infrastructure and networking issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable improvements to strengthen availability and performance. Requirements 10+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud solutions, with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure. Strong background in advanced Azure networking, including virtual WAN, hub-and-spoke architecture, ExpressRoute, and enterprise-scale connectivity design. Hands-on experience building and operating Azure environments end to end, including landing zones, subscriptions, and resilient network architectures. Proven expertise with Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Entra ID, Azure virtual machines, and Azure storage services. Ability to work effectively in both execution-focused and advisory capacities within a senior engineering role. Experience supporting hybrid environments that include both Azure services and traditional on-premises infrastructure. Solid understanding of infrastructure resiliency, disaster recovery planning, and secure cloud design principles. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.
