The Dufur Market is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Baker / Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Dufur, Oregon. We're a small market where savory soups, fresh-baked treats and fresh built sandwiches are our specialty—Organic, non GMO and quality ingredients are important to us and our goal is to nourish our community so that they can live healthy and abundant lives. We start part-time, but the right candidate can quickly advance to full-time hours and take on greater responsibility as our bakery and deli operations expand.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, mix, shape, proof, and bake a variety of fresh pastries, muffins, cookies, and seasonal items to high standards, keeping our pastry case full and delicious. Assist the lead kitchen manager with accurate ingredient measurement, recipe execution, menu prep and daily production Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen workspace in compliance with food safety guidelines Support inventory management, ingredient restocking, and preparation for the next day's baking Assist with checking out customers, and occasional front-of-market tasks to ensure excellent customer experience Package and label baked items efficiently for retail display or catering orders, maintaining presentation quality

Requirements and Qualifications:

Genuine passion for baking and a positive, team-oriented attitude Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work comfortably in a warm kitchen environment Reliable transportation and consistent availability for a varying schedule (mornings, afternoons, and early evenings, weekdays and weekends) Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, food safety and proper hygiene practices Basic knife skills for ingredient preparation and precise cutting techniques Basic math skills for measuring and scaling recipes Food Handler's Card (or willingness to obtain one promptly upon hire) Previous bakery, kitchen, or food service experience is preferred but not required—we provide thorough training for the right candidate
