Barista

Pennyroyal Cafe & Provisions is looking for a BARISTA to join our team. We are a small restaurant and retail business in Saugatuck, MI with a close, fun team of employees. We strive to offer excellent fresh, made-from-scratch menu items for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. The BARISTA is primarily responsible for preparing hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee, tea, and specialty drinks. Many of these beverages require strict adherence to specific recipes. We utilize a state-of-the-art espresso machine, as well as other brewing, grinding, and weighing equipment. To be successful in this role, you should have great customer service skills required to directly take customer orders. The job is fast-paced so being able to multi-task to timely complete customer orders is essential. Ultimately, you'll ensure an excellent drinking experience for our customers. We are looking for a full-time, day-shift (typically starting at 7:30 am) employee, but will consider part-time as well. We are also flexible on schedule. Pay is hourly plus a percentage of the total server tip pool. We offer 20%-off employee discounts on restaurant items as well as paid shift meals. Responsibilities Review orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios) Strategize and organize multiple orders so beverages can be prepared timely Prepare beverages correctly following recipes as required Bring beverages to Cashier/Servers or sometimes directly to customers Keep the Barista station, including the equipment, clean and organized Maintain stock of clean mugs, cups and saucers, as well as inventory of coffees, teas, milks, sweeteners, flavor additives, etc. Prepare beverage flavor additives (we make everything from scratch!) as needed Continuously check brewing equipment operation and report any maintenance needs Comply with all health and safety regulations Help create new menu beverages. Skills Previous work experience as a Barista required. We will provide training!
