We have a wide selection of the best and newest products along with fresh house-made items that cater to our unique community. Our Specialty department has a deep passion for connecting our patrons with refreshing, innovative, and hard-to-find brews. On that list is a pour for everyone—from the perfect local IPA to a rare seasonal find! We are currently hiring for a Beer Buyer to share their passion, experience, and knowledge of craft beer with our valued customers. This position is much more than just keeping the shelves stocked; it is about curating a world-class selection, managing a rotating draft list, and educating our neighbors so they can find their next favorite brew in an environment that is NOT an impersonal grocery chain! The right candidate must be knowledgeable, approachable, and work with a team of specialists who lead the charge for Pruett's legendary customer service. Our Beer Buyer will help create an informative and special shopping experience, sporting a contagious smile and an outgoing personality while recommending the perfect pairings for our cheeses, specialty chocolates, and more.

Job Duties Include:

Curation & Buying:

Actively scout and procure a diverse selection of local, regional, and international craft beers, ciders, and seltzers.

Draft Management:

Run the day-to-day operations of our draft beer bar, ensuring lines are clean, kegs are rotated, and the "on-tap" menu stays fresh and exciting.

Financial Accountability:

Responsible for the profitability of the beer category—including managing inventory, margins, sales targets, and minimizing "shrink."

Merchandising:

Design and maintain eye-catching displays. Ensure the beer cave and retail shelves are organized, properly tagged, and fully stocked.

Storytelling:

Relate the story behind the brewery, the hops, and the brewing process to our guests to fuel their excitement for craft culture.

Cross-Department Collaboration:

Work closely with our Cheesemonger, Wine specialist, and others to create pairing guides and promotional opportunities.

Operational Support:

Receive product deliveries, manage storage, and assist in other Specialty areas including wine, chocolate, coffee, and event support as needed.

Job Qualifications:

Advanced Product Knowledge:

Deep familiarity with beer styles, flavor profiles, and the current craft beer landscape (Cicerone certification or equivalent experience is a plus).

Leadership Experience:

Strong managerial background with the ability to lead, motivate, and provide constructive feedback to a team.

Customer Service Excellence:

Outstanding interpersonal skills and a genuine love for engaging with the Signal Mountain community.

Operational Stamina:

Must be able to lift over 50 pounds (handling kegs and cases) and remain on your feet in a fast-paced environment.

Decision-Making:

Solid ability to prioritize tasks, delegate efficiently, and make smart purchasing decisions based on trends and data.

Availability:

Must be able to work at least one weekend day and be 18+ years of age.

Pay:

From $15.00 per hour
