We are a preferred supplier for leading OEMs across commercial vehicles, material handling, automotive, construction, and agricultural sectors. Job Overview Julian Electric is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our growing HR/Accounting team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, compliant payroll processing while also serving as a key point of contact for employee benefits administration. The ideal candidate brings a balanced background in payroll operations and benefits administration, thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and understands the importance of confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance. This position will support employees across multiple functions and work closely with HR leadership, Accounting, and external vendors to ensure payroll and benefit programs are administered accurately, timely, and in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Payroll Administration (Approximately 50%) Process full-cycle payroll on a weekly schedule using Paylocity. Maintain and audit payroll data, including: New hires, terminations, job changes, pay changes, and deductions Garnishments, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions Review, validate, and reconcile time and attendance data prior to payroll processing. Ensure payroll accuracy, resolving discrepancies and responding to employee payroll inquiries. Prepare and distribute payroll related reports including earnings summaries, deductions, PTO balances, and labor reports. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and audits. Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws. Benefits Administration (Approximately 50%) Administer employee benefit programs including: Medical, dental, vision FSA Life and disability insurance Leave programs (FMLA, ADA) Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding benefit eligibility, enrollment, changes, and questions. Process benefit enrollments, terminations, and life-event changes accurately and timely. Coordinate annual open enrollment activities, including system setup, employee communications, and vendor coordination. Maintain benefit records in Paylocity and ensure alignment between payroll and benefit deductions. Assist with leave administration, tracking, and documentation in coordination with HR. Liaise with benefit carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to resolve issues and discrepancies. Compliance & Confidentiality Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll, compensation, and employee data. Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable labor and benefits regulations. Support internal and external audits as needed. Research, track, and document payroll or benefits discrepancies and corrective actions. Additional Responsibilities Maintain accurate electronic and physical records. Assist HR and Accounting leadership with special projects and reporting as needed. Provide backup support for other HR or accounting functions when required. Qualifications & Experience At least 1 year of hands-on payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll processing. Experience with Paylocity payroll experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience supporting both payroll and benefits administration (roughly 50/50). Experience administering employee leave programs (FMLA and related leaves). Strong understanding of payroll compliance, wage and hour rules, and benefit deductions. Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
