Blueberry Packing Crew Leader Dinsdale Landscape Contractors North Plains, OR Job Details Full-time $20 - $25 an hour 10 hours ago Qualifications Food production Spanish Packing English Delegation Full Job Description Position Summary The Blueberry Packing Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing daily hand-packing operations to ensure high-quality, market-ready blueberries. This role supervises packing staff, maintains product quality standards, and ensures efficient workflow from field intake to finished packaging while meeting food safety and production targets. Key ResponsibilitiesSupervision & Leadership Lead, train, and supervise packing crew members during daily operations Assign tasks and monitor staff performance to ensure productivity and efficiency Promote a positive, safe, and team-oriented work environment Provide ongoing coaching and address performance issues when needed Packing Operations Oversee hand-packing processes to ensure berries meet size, quality, and appearance standards Ensure proper sorting, grading, and packaging according to customer and market requirements Monitor packing speed while maintaining product quality Coordinate workflow to minimize downtime and maximize output Quality Control Inspect blueberries throughout the packing process to ensure freshness and consistency Remove damaged, underripe, or overripe fruit Ensure finished products meet company and customer specifications Report quality issues to management promptly Food Safety & Compliance Enforce food safety standards, hygiene protocols, and company policies Ensure compliance with all applicable agricultural and packing regulations Maintain cleanliness and organization of the packing area Monitor proper handling and storage conditions Inventory & Materials Track packing supplies (clamshells, boxes, labels) and report shortages Ensure proper labeling and packaging accuracy Assist with inventory counts and documentation as needed Communication & Coordination Coordinate with farm supervisors, logistics, and management teams Provide updates on production levels, issues, and staffing needs Assist in scheduling crew members to meet production demands Qualifications Previous experience in agricultural packing, produce handling, or food production preferred Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred) to effectively communicate with crew members and management Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines Good communication and leadership skills Basic understanding of food safety practices Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods of time Ability to lift up to 30-50 pounds as needed Comfortable working in varying temperatures (cool packing areas) Manual dexterity for hand-packing and sorting fruit Work Schedule Seasonal position with extended hours during harvest season May require early mornings, weekends, and overtime Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Product quality standards met or exceeded Packing efficiency and throughput Minimal product waste Crew performance and attendance Compliance with food safety protocols
