About Progenco Progenco is an exciting early-stage biotechnology startup in Davis, CA that is poised to add tremendous value to the beef and dairy industries. As a Bovine Embryologist, you will work in our state-of-the-art lab performing bovine in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures and be involved in all aspects of bovine embryo production within an innovative system. Position Overview The position we are hiring for is a part-time, hourly role with the potential to grow into a full-time position over time. This role does not have guaranteed set hours and requires flexibility based on embryo production schedules, courier arrivals, and staff coverage needs. However we anticipate most shifts will typically occur Wednesday-Sunday from approximately 7:00 AM to 12:00/1:00 PM. Additional evening support will also be needed on occasion. At this time, the evening shift is generally every other Wednesday, typically around 6:00-8:00 PM, though additional evening coverage may occasionally be required in the future. Some holiday work is required but it is on a rotating basis among team members. Ideal candidates should be comfortable with a variable schedule, occasional short-notice coverage, and being a dependable team member who can help fill scheduling gaps as needed. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Bovine Embryologist. This is a hands-on laboratory role working with bovine oocytes and embryos in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable performing repetitive microscope work for extended periods and communicates effectively within a team setting. No prior embryology experience is required - we provide full training if needed. Success in this role comes from: Attention to detail Ability to work quickly with precision A willingness to learn Reliability and a strong work ethic This is a great opportunity for recent graduates or for someone early in their career who is eager to learn hands-on laboratory techniques and develop valuable skills in bovine IVF and embryo production. Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed microscope work for extended periods Follow strict laboratory protocols and quality standards Perform routine bovine embryology procedures (all training will be provided) Maintain accurate paper + electronic records (data entry) and labeling of laboratory materials Prepare and print paperwork, shipping labels, and related documentation Assist with shipping and receiving, including unloading deliveries and preparing outgoing incubators, supplies, and shipments Support lab and office organization by stocking supplies, maintaining inventory, and keeping work areas clean and orderly Help ensure all materials, equipment, and supplies are prepared for upcoming procedures and the following day's workflow Support and assist with lab preparation, organization, cleanup, and general facility tasks Communicate clearly with team members regarding workflow, scheduling needs, and results Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Biology, or related field (or equivalent experience) Some lab experience Ability to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining strong attention to detail Comfortable performing repetitive fine-motor tasks for several hours at a microscope Strong written and verbal English communication skills Reliable, punctual, and able to follow detailed laboratory protocols Willingness to work Wednesday-Sunday schedule and rotating holidays Preferred Qualifications Prior hands-on laboratory or livestock reproductive experience, but not required Experience with microscopy or fine-motor lab work with micropipettes Familiarity with sterile laboratory techniques Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to sit and focus at a microscope for extended periods Ability to perform repetitive hand movements Comfortable working in a fast-paced laboratory setting Ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs Sufficient hearing ability to detect high-pitched gas leaks during tank and valve checks Benefits Sick Pay Application Requirements Resume/CV Submission (Include GPA if recent graduate) Reliable form of commute and/or planning to relocate before starting work U.S. work authorization
