Summary:
Under the direction of the Supervisor or Retail Manager, the BPA Operator is responsible for operating one or more production lines in the Bag Line Department. The BPA Operator is responsible for setting up production and ensuring the products produced are within Mariani quality standards. Other duties may be assigned. Accountability # 1•Operation Process (75%): Sets up assigned line for operation in allotted time. Starts, stops, sets up, and cleans machinery according to operational requirements. Performs daily line inspection and reports findings to Supervisor and Maintenance Manager. Performs machine changeovers as scheduled. Checks raw materials for quality and quantity ahead of loading into machine. Oversees production run ensuring that specific customer specifications are met.
This includes:
Bag coding properly located and in the proper format. Case coding in the right location and proper format. Pallet tag and placard information matching product information. Works with Maintenance to maintain the equipment as part of the PM program. Keeps Supervisor informed of any issues with production run. Tracks line productivity includes spillage, through put, yield and any other critical parameters. Properly reports downtime via Redzone, labor and materials used to Production Control. Will not mishandle equipment in any manner. Must be willing and able to train other operators as needed. Is responsible for packaging integrity and quality checks on each packaging order. Monitors machine performance. Follows the Company's policies, rules and regulations for Safety, Food Safety, Quality and GMPs. Completes required documentation in a timely and legible manner. Reports quality issues to the supervisor immediately. Accountability # 2•Safety (10%): Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions and safe work practices in assigned area, this includes following written procedures for safe handling and use of chemical compounds. MUST follow all Label requirements when handling, storing, or using chemicals. Follows lock out tag out procedures when machinery needs to be cleaned and/or maintained. Must wear proper PPE for the different tasks performed. Accountability # 3•Communication (10%): Ensures clear and timely communication within department and with other departments to maximize plant efficiency. Communicates well with maintenance staff to correct issues. Communicates well with QC staff to maintain quality standards. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Accountability # 4•Sanitation (5%) : Performs proper cleaning when changing product runs. Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Follows Company Sanitation procedures. Accountability # 5•

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The typical workday is 8 to 10 hours with additional hours as needed based on job requirements. Must be willing to work any shift. Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work on top of dryers.

Qualifications Requirements:

Must be able to work under a timeline and meet that timeline. Ability to keep focus in stressful situations. Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations. Must be certified to operate a forklift.
