Mid-Senior (5+ Years)Position OverviewThey are seeking a Geotechnical Branch Manager to lead, grow, and manage our geotechnical engineering operations in the Carolina's. This role is ideal for a seller-doer professional who combines strong technical expertise with business development, client relationship management, and team leadership capabilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing project delivery, driving revenue growth, mentoring staff, and ensuring technical excellence while expanding the firm's market presence.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Project LeadershipProvide technical oversight for geotechnical engineering projects including site investigations, foundation design, earthworks, retaining structures, and construction support.

Review and approve geotechnical reports, recommendations, and designs to ensure technical quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.

Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) where applicable.

Business Development (Seller-Doer)Actively develop new business through client networking, proposal development, presentations, and pursuit of repeat work.

Maintain and expand relationships with developers, contractors, architects, and public-sector clients.

Lead or support proposal strategy, fee development, and contract negotiations.

Identify emerging market opportunities and contribute to strategic growth plans.

Operations & Financial ManagementManage branch workload, utilization, staffing levels, and project profitability.

Prepare and manage budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.

Monitor financial performance and drive achievement of revenue and margin goals.

Ensure risk management and adherence to company policies, QA/QC, and safety standards.

People Management & MentorshipRecruit, mentor, and develop geotechnical engineers, EITs, and field staff.

Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture.

Conduct performance reviews and support professional development and licensure efforts.

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred OR Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the ability to obtain PE licensure within 6 months.

Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience, including project management responsibilities.

Proven seller-doer mindset with experience supporting or leading business development efforts.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience managing clients, budgets, and schedules.

Preferred QualificationsPrior experience managing or helping grow a geotechnical group or office.

Established local or regional client relationships.

Familiarity with construction-phase services and contractor coordination.

Experience in mentoring junior engineers and building teams.
