The Deputy County Manager is a newly created position to add continuity to government operations. Mohave County is a rural county with four main municipal population centers that provide the perfect balance between rural and urban amenities. The County has over 1400 employees and has a 600-million-dollar budget and is growing in population as economic development continues to expand business opportunities. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is an experienced local government leader who combines strategic vision, operational expertise, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal skills. This leader understands the complexities of public administration and can translate the County Manager's vision and policy direction into effective results while balancing operational needs, financial resources, regulatory requirements, and community priorities. Strategic and Forward-Thinking Leader Works collaboratively with the County Manager and Executive Team to develop and implement strategic initiatives and long-range goals. Anticipates emerging needs, identifies opportunities, and develops practical solutions that strengthen County operations and service delivery. Evaluates programs, organizational structures, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability. Uses data, performance measures, and critical analysis to evaluate service delivery and support informed decision-making. Reviews legislation and emerging issues for their potential impact on the County and provides thoughtful recommendations to leadership. Collaborative and Relational Leadership Builds strong, trusting relationships with department directors, employees, elected officials, community stakeholders, and other partners. Leads through partnership, collaboration, and influence rather than title or visibility. Encourages and empowers others to contribute ideas and perspectives, effectively blending top-down direction with bottom-up innovation. Leads cross-functional teams in addressing complex challenges, resolving issues, and identifying creative opportunities. Is visible, accessible, approachable, and engaged throughout the organization. Balances strategic objectives with operational realities, financial constraints, regulatory requirements, and community needs. To view the complete job description please click here Deputy County Manager Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Financial Management or related field. Master's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Financial Management or related field (preferred) Seven (7) years of progressively responsible management experience in a complex organization or governmental management of administration preferably at a local or state level with at least five (5) years at a management level. OR any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications. Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report. Must pass drug screen post offer. Must be a Mohave County resident or establish residence within 90 days from hiring date.
