To that end, UT System Administration embraces state laws on military and former foster children employment preferences. Purpose of Position Provides specialized and skilled services to U.T. System Administration Department Heads regarding their development and uses of their annual operating budget. Oversee the business services offered to the U.T. System Administration Departments under the shared services agreement that aligns budgeting, accounting, procurement, reporting and forecasting services that will enable department heads and management to make informed decisions. Essential Functions Lead the shared services effort to support operational needs of U.T. System Administration departments. Ensure and consistently evaluate that the highest quality of service is provided from the budgeting, accounting and procurement areas under the division of the Chief Financial Officer. Create a strong collaboration with accounting and procurement as well as others within the budget team to align communication and support for U.T. System Administration departments overall. Research and provide financial information that enables senior management to make informed long-term and short-term financial decisions. Assist with the development of the annual operating budget for certain U. T. System Administration departments. Support day to day transactions for the U.T. System Administration departments in alignment with the shared services agreement and develop solid process to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Support reconciliations, reporting and forecasting for the U.T. System Administration departments in alignment with the shared services agreement. Engage with and lead where appropriate cross-functional initiatives to improve budget systems, reporting tools and financial transparency across the U.T. System Administration through automation and efficient processes. Support the review and preparation of bill analysis as it impacts the departments under our shared services oversight. Lead and mentor employees that directly report to this position to ensure high-performance, culture of excellence, collaboration and innovation. Work on various budget related activities including preparation of the U. T. System Administration budget in Hyperion Assist with numerous assignments and other ad hoc reports as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong skills in leadership, strategic thinking and ability to clearly communicate objectives and intended outcomes. Strong experience with excel, ERP or budgeting system such as Hyperion or PeopleSoft. Knowledge of common office and analytical software. Internally motivated to provide high-quality work products and meet deadlines. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field and 8 years of related experience in a finance, accounting and budgeting, including 1 year of management experience. Equivalent combinations of education, professional certifications, and relevant experience will be considered on a year for year basis. For example, a master's and 6 years of experience may be considered equivalent to a bachelor's and 8 years of related experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education budgeting practices and budgeting tools and technology. Master's degree in finance, accounting, and public administration. Knowledge of governmental accounting, budgeting and a legislative appropriations process. Prefer 3 years of management experience. Working Conditions May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Uses standard office equipment Requires occasional evening or weekend hours Hybrid work environment (remote & office) Additional Information The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
