Job Description

IU Intake Specialist Supervisor:
INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

Under direct supervision by the IU Director, the IU Intake Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the IU team's intake processes, which include receipt, review, assignment, and investigation of service concerns. The IU Intake Supervisor will provide direct support and supervision to the IU Intake Specialists. The IU Intake Supervisor should have a collaborative and teamwork attitude regarding interaction with the Investigations Unit Director in addition to State Child Advocate, Chief of Staff, General Counsel, System Improvement Director, IU Program Supervisor and Critical Investigations Unit Director. The IU Intake Supervisor will serve under direct supervision by the IU Director, the employee will be responsible for overseeing IU Intake Specialists and the monitoring of complaints against the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Department of Public Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of Mental Health, Department of Social Services, John de la Howe, School for the Deaf and Blind, and Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School to ensure children receive adequate programs and services. IU Intake Supervisor will be guided by Agency's intake and investigate policy and procedure and must be capable of leading the IU Intake Specialists and collaborating with other people and agencies in a professional manner. The IU Intake Supervisor will serve in a supervisory role over the IU Intake Specialists. The IU Intake Supervisor will monitor complaints and investigations and ensure compliance with DCA's intake and investigative policy and procedure. The IU Intake Supervisor must have requisite knowledge and experience in child welfare, investigations, and program support. The IU Intake Supervisor must have skills to professionally and effectively communicate with complainants, co-workers, agency staff, and external partners. The IU Intake Supervisor must possess the skills to identify relevant issues and trends, maintain records, and document pertinent information in the agency's database. Supervises staff to include preparing performance planning and evaluation documents and related personnel paperwork. Coaches, counsels and trains employees. Establishes and monitors work processes. Implements management policies and initiatives and promotes teamwork. Review and monitor intake and investigative process of electronic complaints submitted by constituents against the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Department of Public Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of Mental Health, Department of Social Services, SC Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe, School for the Deaf and Blind, and Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School. Review, track, monitor, provide resources and/or warm transfers, and/or investigate complaints submitted to DCA from constituents against the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Department of Public Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of Mental Health, Department of Social Services, SC Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe, School for the Deaf and Blind, and Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School. Effectively communicate and interact with state agencies, children served, DCA staff, and external staff to fulfill the mission of DCA and to represent DCA in a professional manner. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance the delivery of services by the System Improvement Division; strictly adhere to all agency and division policies and applicable state and federal laws, including but not limited to confidentiality, conflicts of interest, mandatory reporting, job functions, and other operational requirements; and consistently engage in best practices related to intakes and investigations. Builds team rapport and morale. Oversees IU's intake processes by providing direction and support to IU Intake Specialists. Coordinate with IU Director regarding improvement opportunities and hiring of new staff. Performs other related duties as required or directed by the IU Director, IU Program Supervisor, System Improvement Director, State Child Advocate, Chief of Staff or General Counsel. Bachelor's Degree and professional experience as an intake specialist and/or investigator.

Addition Responsibilities:

Position may require overnight travel. Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends. Position requires routine driver duties. Position requires non-essential declaration. This job will require travel throughout the state. The applicant must possess a valid South Carolina drivers license and reliable vehicle and must be able to drive independently throughout the state. Demonstrated knowledge of law and policy regarding Department of Social Services and Department of Juvenile Justice procedures and experience with conducting intakes and investigations.
