ABOUT THE ROLE
This is not a call center. FAI is a specialized agency with a sophisticated litigation capability and a client base made up of credit unions that depend on us to handle their members with professionalism and care. As a Collections Specialist, you will manage a portfolio of charged-off accounts on behalf of our credit union and community bank clients — working both the demand phase through direct consumer contact and supporting the legal phase as accounts move toward litigation. You will work alongside experienced collectors in a collaborative, high-performance environment where your results are visible, your contributions are recognized, and your commission is uncapped. RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct outbound and inbound consumer contact via phone, written correspondence, and other channels to resolve charged-off accounts Negotiate payment arrangements, settlements, and payment plans within established guidelines Manage an assigned portfolio of accounts across multiple clients and delinquency stages Accurately document all consumer contacts, payment arrangements, and account activity in the collections platform Ensure full compliance with the FDCPA, Regulation F, and all applicable state and federal collection laws Identify accounts appropriate for escalation to the legal phase and coordinate with the legal team Process payments accurately and maintain chain of custody on account documentation Meet or exceed monthly collection targets and activity standards Represent FAI and our credit union clients with professionalism in every consumer interaction
WHAT YOU BRING
2+ years of collections experience — third-party, credit union, or financial institution background preferred Working knowledge of FDCPA and Regulation F; familiarity with Washington State collection law a plus Strong negotiation skills and the ability to remain composed, empathetic, and professional in difficult conversations Accurate and disciplined with account documentation — you record what happened, every time Experience with collections software platforms such as Akuvo, Aktos, CARS, Latitude, or similar systems preferred Self-directed and accountable — you manage your own book and own your numbers High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree a plus
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Base pay: $17.50-$19.00/hour depending on experience
Commission:
Uncapped monthly commission on net collections above base threshold Total target compensation: $50,000-$80,000+ depending on performance — top collectors earn significantly more Health, dental, and vision insurance (75% employer paid after 60 days) Life insurance ($15K) 401(k) with 4% employer match after 90 days PPTO — 13 days accrual; 19 days after 5 years of tenure Paid sick leave — Washington State minimum (approximately 6.5 days annually) 7 paid holidays

Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
