Garrett Counseling is seeking a dedicated Billing Assistant to help keep our practice running smoothly so our clinicians can focus on what matters most — our clients. Since 2009, we have been transforming lives through comprehensive mental health services for children, adolescents, and adults. Our innovative approach integrates traditional counseling, Play Therapy, and other evidence-based practices delivered by compassionate professionals committed to positive client outcomes. Your Impact As a Billing Assistant, you'll play a vital behind-the-scenes role in our mission of promoting healing and hope. By ensuring accurate, timely insurance claims and clear financial communication, you help our clients access the care they need without unnecessary stress or delay.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and submit insurance claims for mental health services Verify client insurance eligibility and benefits Review clinical documentation for billing accuracy Post payments and adjustments in the billing system Follow up on unpaid or denied claims Communicate with insurance companies and clients as needed Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations Ensure that all position-related workflows are kept up to date to reflect current responsibilities and processes Assist with general administrative tasks as assigned

What We're Looking For Required Qualifications:

1+ years of experience in medical billing, insurance claims, or a mental/behavioral health office setting Proficiency with Google Workspace and billing software for seamless collaboration and document management Familiarity with insurance verification and claims processes Strong attention to detail and accuracy Professional communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Ideal Candidate:

Undergraduate degree or coursework in a related field (business, healthcare administration, or similar) a plus Experience with mental health billing codes and terminology Comfort following up persistently and professionally on denied or unpaid claims

Compensation and Benefits Competitive Compensation:

$14.00 - $16.00 per hour (part-time) or $15.00 - $18.00 per hour (full-time) Outstanding Benefits Package for
