Job Description

Interim Medical Billing Manager Location:
Flagstaff, AZ (Onsite)

Full-Time, Interim About the Role A hospital in Flagstaff, AZ is seeking an experienced Interim Medical Billing Manager to lead the billing functions for outpatient, inpatient, ancillary, ambulatory surgery, and professional services. This role directs the timely submission of clean claims to third-party payers, manages resubmission of corrected claims, and works to maximize reimbursement while minimizing denials. The Interim Medical Billing Manager will oversee billing staff, monitor key revenue cycle performance indicators, and support the Director of Revenue Cycle in achieving organizational clean claim goals. This is a fully onsite position, and paid travel home is provided every other weekend for candidates relocating temporarily for the assignment. What You'll Do You'll work hands-on with charge master maintenance, EDI claims, EHR systems, CCI edits, claims scrubbing, and insurance verification of benefits, while developing statistical reports and productivity standards to track staff and departmental performance. Additional responsibilities include training and coaching staff, conducting performance evaluations, reviewing work for coding and compliance accuracy (CPT/HCPCS, E&M, CDT-2, HCFA guidelines), resolving escalated billing issues, and coordinating with payers, agencies, and internal stakeholders to keep the revenue cycle running smoothly. What You'll Need Candidates should have a Bachelor's preferred, CPC, CCS, or CIC, at least three years of supervisory or management experience in a healthcare patient accounting setting. Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and
CPT/HCPCS
coding and billing procedures, UB-04, HCFA-1500, and ADA billing forms is required, along with proficiency in MS Excel and Word and the ability to navigate multiple data systems.
