Arvada, CO About the Role The Senior Utilities Billing Specialist will perform advanced utility billing and customer account functions while serving as a lead resource for billing staff. This position will help ensure accurate and timely billing, troubleshoot complex issues, support system enhancements, and identify opportunities to improve processes and customer service. Key Responsibilities Perform complex utility billing functions, including account adjustments, audits, reconciliations, billing corrections, and data analysis. Coordinate monthly billing cycles and review meter reads, exception reports, and billing data for accuracy. Investigate billing discrepancies, unusual usage patterns, and customer account issues. Serve as a lead resource for utility billing staff by providing training, guidance, and troubleshooting support. Assist with escalated customer inquiries and resolve complex billing-related issues. Work with IT teams and software vendors to troubleshoot system issues and support billing system upgrades and enhancements. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, user documentation, and training materials. Support delinquency and collection processes, including account reviews, disputes, shutoffs, and hardship considerations. Assist with budgeting, rate analysis, audits, reporting, and variance explanations. Analyze meter, consumption, and billing data using reporting and data analysis tools. Maintain accurate and secure utility service databases. Participate in cross-functional projects and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. Assist with system testing and implementation of software enhancements. Process and reconcile charges from outside agencies and ensure customer accounts are updated accurately. Initiate vendor wire payments and assist with processing property liens related to delinquent accounts. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. At least 3 years of experience in customer service, financial management, utility billing, or a related field. Experience working with billing, customer information, or CRM systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret billing and usage data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to train and guide others and work effectively across departments. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Ability to adapt to new technology, systems, and processes. Experience with reporting, data analysis, project coordination, or municipal/utility billing is a plus. Coursework or training in customer service, conflict resolution, or de-escalation is preferred. #
