Job Description
Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week Monday-Friday | 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Position Summary Columbus Psychiatry Clinic is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Billing/Coding Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely billing of outpatient psychiatric and behavioral health services, ensuring compliance with payer requirements and revenue cycle best practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service to patients and staff. Essential Responsibilities Perform insurance verification, claim submission, payment posting, and account follow-up activities. Manage claim denials and rejections, while identifying and resolving billing discrepancies. Conduct internal audits and account reviews to ensure accurate third-party insurance reimbursement and compliance with payer requirements. Respond to patient billing inquiries, explain insurance and financial responsibilities, establish payment arrangements, and manage collection accounts in a professional and compassionate manner. Collaborate with front desk staff to provide patient cost estimates and verify insurance benefits. Assist clinical providers with prior authorization requests and payer-related documentation. Maintain knowledge of behavioral health billing guidelines, insurance regulations, and revenue cycle processes. Support accurate documentation and compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge of CMS regulations, Medicaid, and insurance billing preferred. Previous medical office or clinic experience desired. Behavioral health experience is a plus. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records preferred.
