full-time Position Summary Morris Heights Health Center (MHHC) is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Posting Reconciliation Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team. The Posting Reconciliation Specialist plays an important role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of MHHC's accounts receivable by ensuring that payments are posted timely and accurately, batches are reconciled, discrepancies are identified, and payment issues are appropriately communicated and escalated. The ideal candidate has experience in medical billing and payment posting, is comfortable working in a high-volume healthcare environment, and demonstrates strong attention to detail, accountability, and follow-through. Key Responsibilities Accurately and efficiently post payments into the practice management system. Review payment information to ensure appropriate allocation to patient and payer accounts. Record batch totals, dates, and required reconciliation information on payment receipt spreadsheets. Balance payment batches and generate applicable transaction and reconciliation reports. Research and resolve payment-posting discrepancies in a timely manner. Accurately identify, document, and communicate payment denials to the appropriate billing representatives. Identify potential payer underpayments and escalate discrepancies to the Billing Manager for further review. Assist with maintaining accurate and current accounts receivable records. Follow established Revenue Cycle policies, procedures, internal controls, and reconciliation standards. Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational requirements. Maintain current knowledge of medical billing and coding practices, payer requirements, and applicable federal and state healthcare program guidelines. Collaborate with Billing, Finance, Revenue Cycle, and other departments as necessary to resolve payment and account discrepancies. Perform additional Revenue Cycle responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or additional training in healthcare administration, medical billing, finance, or a related area preferred. Experience Minimum of 2 years of medical billing, payment posting, or related Revenue Cycle experience required. Experience working with healthcare practice management and/or electronic health record systems preferred. Experience with payment reconciliation, Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA), and payer transactions strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy. Ability to manage high-volume transactions while maintaining quality and productivity. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify discrepancies, payment variances, and underpayments. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize assignments and meet established deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, email, spreadsheets, Internet applications, and practice management systems. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a Revenue Cycle team. Work Schedule This is a full-time position . The successful candidate will be required to work fully in-office during the first three months of employment . Following successful completion of the probationary period, the employee may be considered for a hybrid work schedule of two days in-office and three days remote , subject to departmental needs, satisfactory performance, and management approval.
