Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Check Out & Billing Associate to join our eye care team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately processing patient billing, verifying insurance claims, and ensuring smooth financial transactions within our medical practice. Your proactive approach will help streamline the billing process, improve patient satisfaction, and support the overall efficiency of our healthcare services. Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train an eager individual. Hourly wage is based on experience. Responsibilities Review and verify medical billing information using billing software and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems to ensure accuracy and completeness. Process healthcare claims efficiently, including coding using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10, and ICD coding standards. Collaborate with insurance companies to resolve claim denials or discrepancies related to health insurance coverage or medical records. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments received, and outstanding balances using Microsoft Office tools and billing software. Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries, payment options, and outstanding balances while providing excellent customer service. Stay updated on healthcare claims management procedures, medical terminology, and evolving insurance policies to ensure compliance and accuracy. Assist in medical collection efforts by following up on unpaid or delayed payments while adhering to healthcare regulations. Skills Strong knowledge of medical coding including
DRG, CPT
coding, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, along with experience using billing software and EMR/EHR systems. Excellent understanding of healthcare claims management processes and health insurance policies. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and medical billing procedures. Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service while handling sensitive patient information following HIPPA compliance. Experience working in a medical office environment with a focus on billing or collections is preferred. Ability to adapt quickly to new software systems and stay organized in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
