Full-Time | Non-Exempt Support Compassionate Care Behind the Scenes At Uvalde Memorial Hospital, we know that exceptional hospice care extends beyond the bedside. Our Patient Accounting team plays a vital role in ensuring patients and families receive accurate, timely billing services while supporting the financial health of our Hospice program. We're seeking a detail-oriented Hospice Collector/Biller I to help manage hospice billing, payment posting, collections, and accounts receivable while delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
In This Role, You Will:
Prepare, review, and submit hospice claims to Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance carriers, and private payers. Post and reconcile insurance and patient payments while ensuring payment accuracy and integrity. Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid, denied, rejected, or underpaid claims. Research and resolve billing discrepancies, payment variances, and credit balances. Prepare corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals as needed. Respond professionally to patient and payer billing inquiries. Collaborate with Hospice leadership and Revenue Cycle departments to resolve billing and reimbursement issues. Maintain compliance with Medicare Hospice regulations, CMS requirements, HIPAA, and payer guidelines. Support month-end reconciliation, audits, reporting, and other Revenue Cycle initiatives.
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous medical billing or healthcare revenue cycle experience preferred. Hospice billing experience is a plus. Knowledge of medical billing, insurance claims processing, ICD-10 and CPT coding principles. Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
