Job Description

Billing Director (medical & dental) We are seeking a Full-time Billing Director to work out of our Administrative office in Martinsville, Virginia.

Purpose:

The Billing Director plays a critical leadership role in advancing the mission of Connect Health

+ Wellness by ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the organization's revenue cycle operations. This position directly supports the delivery of affordable, accessible healthcare to underserved populations by managing timely and accurate medical and dental billing, collections, and provider credentialing processes. Through effective oversight, training, and continuous process improvement, the Billing Director helps maximize reimbursements from public and private payers, minimize claim denials and delays, and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations. By leading a team that manages vital financial functions, this role safeguards the organization's financial sustainability—enabling Connect Health

+ Wellness to invest in expanded services, community outreach, and care for uninsured and underinsured patients. Additionally, the Billing Director serves as a key liaison between finance, clinical, and administrative teams, ensuring seamless coordination and proactive resolution of billing and credentialing issues. The position requires not only technical expertise but also a mission-driven approach, operational leadership, and a commitment to improving patient access through operational excellence.

Position Summary:

The Billing Director is a key leadership position within the Revenue Cycle team at Connect Health

+ Wellness, responsible for overseeing the full scope of medical and dental billing, patient account management, collections, and the provider credentialing process. This role ensures the accurate and timely submission of claims, the resolution of denials, and the consistent application of payer regulations and organizational policies. The Billing Director plays a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization by driving efficiency, minimizing revenue loss, and improving cash flow. In addition to supervising daily billing operations and staff performance, this position also manages credentialing and enrollment for all clinical providers, ensuring active participation with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance networks. The Billing Director serves as the primary liaison between the finance department, clinical leadership, and third-party payers, ensuring seamless coordination across departments and effective resolution of billing or credentialing issues. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will bring a thorough understanding of payer requirements, coding principles, and revenue cycle best practices, as well as a passion for supporting access to care for underserved populations. By ensuring the smooth operation of billing and credentialing systems, the Billing Director directly contributes to the organization's ability to serve the community and expand health equity through financial sustainability. Essential Functions of the Position Supervise all billing and collections activities, including charge entry, claim submission, accounts receivable follow-up, and patient billing. Monitor and evaluate performance of billing team members; provide regular feedback and coaching. Oversee the denial management process and ensure timely and appropriate appeal submissions. Coordinate with internal teams to resolve audit discrepancies and enrollment-related claim denials. Manage the provider credentialing process , including initial credentialing, re-credentialing, payer enrollments, and documentation tracking to ensure providers are enrolled and remain active with all contracted payers. Maintain accurate provider files and credential databases. Respond to escalated billing calls and payer inquiries; provide guidance and resolution support. Ensure timely posting of payments and adjustments according to payer rules and organizational policies. Analyze payer trends and billing metrics, report findings to CFO with recommendations for improvement. Assist with development and enforcement of billing policies, procedures, and compliance standards. Participate in cross-functional meetings and act as the billing liaison between departments. Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive patient and organizational information. Perform other duties as assigned in support of Connect Health

Pay Range:

$60,000 to $70,000
