The Collections Supervisor will lead, coach, and monitor collection representatives while handling escalated accounts, maintaining customer relationships, and helping the company meet its accounts receivable and cash-flow objectives.
THIS IS A WORKING AND LEADING POSITION. THE SUPERVISOR WILL BE COLLECTIONG AS WELL.
This is an in-person working position that requires regular interaction with employees, customers, management, and other departments. Key Responsibilities Supervise, train, coach, and motivate the collections team. Assign accounts and monitor individual and team collection performance. Establish and maintain collection goals, performance standards, and productivity expectations. Monitor outstanding accounts and ensure collection activities are completed consistently and timely. Review aging reports and identify high-risk, delinquent, or escalated accounts. Handle difficult or escalated customer collection situations professionally. Contact customers by phone, email, and other approved communication methods regarding past-due balances. Work with customers to establish payment arrangements when appropriate and within company guidelines. Ensure payments, account adjustments, credits, and disputes are properly documented. Coordinate with Sales, Customer Service, Accounting, and Management to resolve account issues that may delay payment. Monitor collection activity and provide regular performance reports to management. Review employee calls, account notes, and collection activity for quality and compliance. Ensure collection representatives follow company policies and procedures. Identify opportunities to improve collection processes, reporting, and team efficiency. Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations of collections employees. Maintain confidentiality of customer and company financial information. Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all collection activity. Assist with month-end and year-end accounts receivable activities as needed. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management. Leadership Responsibilities The Collections Supervisor is responsible for providing hands-on, in-person leadership to the collections team.
This includes:
Maintaining a professional and productive office environment. Providing daily direction and support to collection representatives. Conducting team meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions. Addressing attendance, performance, and conduct issues promptly. Recognizing strong performance and identifying opportunities for improvement. Leading by example in customer service, professionalism, accountability, and work ethic.
Qualifications Required:
2+ years of collections, accounts receivable, or related financial services experience. Previous supervisory or team-lead experience. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to handle difficult customer conversations professionally. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to analyze aging reports and collection performance data. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to work independently while effectively managing a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information. Reliable attendance and ability to work on-site/in person as scheduled.
Preferred:
3-5 years of collections or accounts receivable experience. Experience supervising a collections department. Experience with collection management or accounting software. Experience establishing payment arrangements and resolving account disputes. Knowledge of applicable federal and state collection regulations. Key Performance Expectations The Collections Supervisor will be evaluated based on: Collection results and reduction of past-due balances. Team productivity and achievement of collection goals. Accuracy of account documentation. Quality of customer interactions. Employee development and retention. Timely resolution of escalated accounts. Compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Attendance, dependability, leadership, and professionalism. Physical & Work Environment This is an in-person, office-based position . The employee will be expected to: Work on-site during scheduled business hours. Spend extended periods sitting and working at a computer. Frequently communicate by telephone, email, and in person. Interact regularly with employees, customers, and management. Maintain a professional and organized work environment.
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
$26-35 per hour
