Job Description
Assistant Bursar Cartersville, GA | $28/hour | Full-Time Focus People is seeking an experienced finance and accounts receivable professional for an Assistant Bursar / Assistant Director of Student Financial Services opportunity with a school in Cartersville, GA. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing student account operations, including billing, collections, accounts receivable, cashiering, reconciliations, and student account support. The right person will be comfortable balancing financial accuracy, staff supervision, and customer service while working with students, parents, and departments across the college. What You'll Do Oversee day-to-day student accounts and Bursar operations Manage billing, collections, deposits, disbursements, and accounts receivable Monitor and reconcile student accounts and financial records Coordinate collection activity for student and third-party accounts Assist students and parents with billing questions, payment options, and account issues Supervise Student Account Technicians and Coordinators Support 1098-T processing, fee setup, reporting, and records management Work closely with Accounting, Financial Aid, Admissions, Registrar, and other departments Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and student account operations What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, management, public administration, or a related field. 3-5 years of finance-related experience, including supervisory experience Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, collections, financial practices, and recordkeeping Experience reconciling accounts and resolving financial discrepancies Strong Excel and general computer skills Ability to supervise staff, prioritize competing responsibilities, and make sound decisions Strong communication and customer service skills, including the ability to handle sensitive or difficult financial conversations High attention to detail and accuracy Experience with student accounts, Bursar operations, higher education, or student information systems is especially helpful.
