Essential Functions Under general direction, the Executive Assistant performs a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative and secretarial duties in providing executive assistance and support to the General Manager and the General Manager's Office.
Core responsibilities include:
Assist the General Manager's Office with administering and enforcing the provisions of the District Code, ordinances, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and applicable local, state and federal statutes and regulations, as well as the coordination and direction the activities of all District departments, presenting recommendations to the Board of Directors, and being held accountable to the Board for the administration and operation of the District. Supporting the District Management Team, the formulation of strategic plans, goals, and objectives process, and assisting the General Manager in performing their role as Secretary to the Board of Directors. Connect with elected officials, civic officials, employees, and the public. Exercise a high level of discretion and independence in judgement. May perform Notary Public duties as necessary. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a highly organized, adaptable, and trusted administrative professional with a strong understanding of public-sector operations and the policies and regulations that guide local government or special district services. They bring sound analytical judgment, excellent time-management skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. They communicate clearly and professionally, build productive working relationships with staff, leadership, the Board of Directors, public officials, partner agencies, and community members, and handle sensitive matters with exceptional discretion. Minimum Qualifications Education Thirty semester units from an accredited college or university with course work in public administration, social/political science, business administration, communication, or a closely related field. Possession of a bachelor's degree in any of the above-mentioned fields preferred. Experience Three years of experience performing administrative and analytical assignments in, but not limited to, program development and operations, personnel, public and media relations, and/or general business administration (equivalent to that gained as an Administrative Analyst with the District) is required. Two years of supervisory experience preferred. Designation as a Commissioned Notary Public is desirable. License Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License, or equivalent, and a satisfactory driving record.
