Charter School Launch and Operations Montessori Academy for Entrepreneurs Chartered Public School Nashua, New Hampshire Full-time | Year-round | Primarily in person
Salary:
$55,000-$65,000 annually
Paid Time Off:
255-day Contract; additional three (3) weeks [fifteen (15) days] annually Work is primarily in person at MAE's Nashua campus. Limited hybrid workdays may be negotiated following onboarding, based on performance, responsibilities, and the needs of the school-launch calendar. Occasional evening Board meetings and community events may be required with advance notice. Paid time off will be coordinated around critical launch deadlines and school-opening responsibilities. Help Build a Different Kind of Public School The Montessori Academy for Entrepreneurs Chartered Public School (MAE) is seeking an intelligent, highly trainable, and relentlessly dependable Executive Assistant to help build a new 1-12 public school from the ground up. MAE is a tuition-free New Hampshire chartered public school scheduled to open in Nashua in September 2027 with Grades 1-5 and grow through Grade 12 by 2034. Our model combines Montessori education, project-based learning, entrepreneurship, and responsible uses of artificial intelligence. We are building MAE particularly for southern New Hampshire students who have been underserved, underestimated, or labeled "at risk." We intend to help them become thoughtful risk-takers: young people capable of finding direction, creating value, and changing the trajectory of their lives. Although this is an executive and operational position, it is first and foremost a position within a 1-12 school. The successful candidate will demonstrate passion for both students and education. Opportunity This is a broad, high-responsibility executive-assistant position. Some days will involve Board materials, executive scheduling, state deadlines, and grant records. Other days may involve coordinating teacher interviews, solving a facility problem, helping organize a family event, supporting student programming, or building an institutional process that did not exist previously. The Executive Assistant will report to Head of School and the Chair of the Board of Trustees, and will also work closely with the Secretary/Treasurer, Trustees, consultants, vendors, future educators, students, and families. We are looking for someone who: Sees loose ends and closes them. Learns unfamiliar work quickly. Builds solutions instead of waiting for instruction/approval. Remains steady when priorities change. Accepts candid feedback and is committed to growth. Is curious and creative and can respectfully challenge ideas and contribute collaboratively. Possesses substantial grit, judgment, and follow-through. The successful candidate does will not know how to do everything this position will require. We are seeking a candidate who is willing to grow into any position, instructional, administrative, and/or support as we develop the school for students to arrive in Fall 2027. We care deeply about learning speed, intelligence, diligence, resilience, and the willingness to grow, and we are looking for candidate who wants to pursue growth in a lifelong career in education. Primary Responsibilities Maintain MAE's master school-launch calendar, task tracker, deadlines, decision log, and follow-up systems. Provide direct executive support to the Board Chair and coordinated support to the Secretary/Treasurer. Convert meetings and decisions into clear assignments, documented next steps, and completed work. Coordinate calendars, Board meetings, interviews, tours, inspections, vendor appointments, and community events. Prepare agendas, Board materials, meeting notes, action logs, correspondence, reports, presentations, forms, and briefing documents. Maintain an organized Google Drive environment with dependable filing, naming, version-control, and document-retention practices. Support grant administration and procurement documentation, including quotes, purchase records, contracts, invoices, receiving records, and supporting evidence. Coordinate employee-recruitment logistics, applicant communication, interview scheduling, reference checks, onboarding records, and required documentation. Support student enrollment, prospective-family communication, informational sessions, school tours, and community outreach. Communicate professionally with state agencies, consultants, vendors, educators, community partners, applicants, students, and families. Coordinate school-opening logistics involving facilities, equipment, technology, supplies, records, and operational systems. Track emerging problems, identify missed deadlines, and elevate concerns before they become launch risks. Handle confidential Board, personnel, financial, student, and family information with discretion. Take on additional educational, administrative, and operational responsibilities as MAE moves from planning to opening. The Executive Assistant coordinates the work of the launch team but does not independently make academic, legal, financial, or governance decisions outside delegated authority. Educational and Leadership Growth This is not initially being advertised as a full-time classroom teaching position. However, MAE wants this role to provide meaningful professional growth within primary and secondary education. Interested candidates with appropriate preparation, ability, and credentials may have opportunities to contribute to: Student programming and enrichment. Project-based learning activities. Instructional or substitute support. Curriculum-development coordination. Family and student engagement. School operations or instructional leadership. As MAE grows, qualified high-performing employees may be considered for future instructional, operational, or school-leadership positions. Opportunities will depend on performance, qualifications, required credentials, student needs, and the organizational needs of the school; they are not guaranteed by appointment to this position. We particularly encourage applications from teacher-prepared college graduates and early-career educators who have not yet found the right full-time classroom position but want to work, learn, and grow inside an innovative startup school. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and demonstrated ability. Genuine interest in K-12 education and improving outcomes for students who have been underserved or identified as at risk. Exceptional organizational ability and evidence of successfully managing responsibilities, projects, or deadlines. Strong professional writing, editing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the larger objective. Sound judgment, discretion, emotional steadiness, and the ability to handle confidential information. Ability to learn independently, ask direct questions, receive feedback, and make visible improvements. Comfort responsibly using modern artificial-intelligence and project-management tools. Ability to work primarily in person in Nashua. Ability to complete all legally required employment and school background checks. Traditional executive-assistant experience is valuable but not mandatory. Demonstrated capacity, judgment, work ethic, and learning ability matter more than possessing a perfectly conventional résumé. Working Environment MAE is a startup school. Priorities will move, plans will improve, and feedback will be frequent and candid. The right person will be resilient enough not to take course correction personally, reflective enough to learn from others and experiences, and confident enough to speak honestly when something is not working. We want someone with thick skin, a sound ego, high standards, and a serious appetite for growth. The Montessori Academy for Entrepreneurs Chartered Public School is an equal-opportunity employer. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, demonstrated ability, organizational needs, and applicable law.
