Pasco Kids First is seeking a Child Protection Specialist. The Child Protection Specialist works as a member of the Child Advocacy Center multidisciplinary team to provide assessment services in cases of alleged child abuse and neglect. The candidate should feel comfortable in interviewing children and their parents about difficult topics, formulating recommendations using a family centered, holistic approach, and communicating those recommendations in a professional manner to community stakeholders. The preferred candidate has expertise in the field of child abuse and neglect. About Pasco Kids First Pasco Kids First, Inc. was launched in 1989 to keep kids safe and strengthen families through the assessment and treatment of child abuse and neglect. The agency is the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) for Pasco County operating both Child Protection and Trauma Therapy teams as well as the Healthy Families program which serves both Pasco and Hernando Counties. PKF is an accredited member of the National Children's Alliance, and the Trauma Treatment Program is the only designated Sexual Abuse Treatment Program and is a recognized leader in trauma therapy, setting the standard for excellence in Pasco and Hernando counties. Overview of Position Under the supervision of the Team Coordinator, the Child Protection Specialist will provide assessment services in cases of alleged child abuse and neglect referred by the Pasco Department of Children and Families CPI Division, local law enforcement, and other community stakeholders. The following duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Complete interviews with children and family members to gather psychosocial and medical information. Successfully complete Forensic Interview training (provided) and provide forensic interviews to victims of alleged child abuse and neglect. Coordinate and host multi-disciplinary staffing's with community stakeholders. Prepare written reports within given timeframes for completed assessments. Provide direct counseling and crisis intervention services to victims and families. Provide expert depositions and court testimony on behalf of victims when appropriate. Be available for 24 hour on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays, to provide consultation, crisis intervention and call out assistance with medical exams. Remain current with research into field of child abuse/neglect. Ideal Candidate Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in nursing, sociology, psychology, or other human services related discipline. A Master's Degree is preferred. A minimum of two years of direct experience in the field of child abuse and neglect or other professional experience working with children and families. Knowledge or experience of the child welfare system is preferred. Work well independently and within a team. Deadline and detail oriented. Time management skills are essential. Ability to write clearly, concisely, and professionally.
