Forensic Interviewer Children's Advocacy Center of Hidalgo & Starr Counties Edinburg, TX Job Details Full-time $20 - $24 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Employee assistance program Vision insurance 401(k) matching Flexible schedule Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Microsoft Word Spanish Child abuse and neglect assessments Word embeddings English Driver's License Child protective services Bachelor's degree Productivity software Child welfare Full Job Description Forensic Interviewer Children's Advocacy Center of Hidalgo and Starr Counties Position Summary The Children's Advocacy Center of Hidalgo and Starr Counties (CACHSC) provides comprehensive services to child victims of abuse and their non-offending caregivers in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) made up of law enforcement, child protective services and prosecution. The Forensic Interviewer conducts video recorded interviews of child abuse victims ages 2 -17 and works with members of the MDT to facilitate the effective investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. In addition, the Forensic Interviewer may provide testimony in civil and criminal proceedings whenever necessary.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Service or related field (i.e. social work, criminal justice) Minimum of 3 years investigative experience in child abuse cases Must be fluent in English and Spanish Prior work with Child Protective Services, Law enforcement, and District Attorney's office preferred.
Desirable personal qualities include:
tact, good judgment, flexibility, a positive attitude, high professional standards and ethics, detail-oriented, cultural sensitivity and an ability to get along with a variety of people from various disciplines. Candidate must be willing to travel within CACHSC service areas in Hidalgo and Starr Counties. Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as the on-call schedule requires. Computer and technology skills include proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint as well as the ability to learn and use web-based software. Employment dependent upon the successful completion of a background check (criminal and DFPS) Bending, stooping, reaching and other movements are required in dealing with children. Lifting of office materials (up to 20 lbs.)
