Job Description
The position is for a part time position up to 16 hours per week. On a Monday/Wednesday schedule or Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Bilingual
Spanish Preferred.
Responsibilities:
Verify Coverage:
Confirm active insurance policy status, copays, deductibles, and lifetime maximums via payer portals or phone calls.
Obtain Authorizations:
Secure required prior authorizations or pre-certifications for specialized treatments, surgeries, or diagnostics.
Communicate Costs:
Inform patients of expected out-of-pocket financial responsibilities prior to receiving care.
Update Records:
Accurately enter demographic and insurance data into practice management or electronic medical record (EMR) software.
Coordinate and manage patient referrals in a timely and efficient manner
Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to ensure smooth referral process
Obtain necessary medical records and documentation for referrals
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
Assist in medical coding and billing processes related to referrals
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records and documentation
Provide excellent customer service to patients and address any concerns or questions
Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a medical office or dental office setting preferred
Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, and managed care processes
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
Proficient in using office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
