Job Description

The position is for a part time position up to 16 hours per week. On a Monday/Wednesday schedule or Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Bilingual
  • Spanish Preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Verify Coverage:
    Confirm active insurance policy status, copays, deductibles, and lifetime maximums via payer portals or phone calls.
  • Obtain Authorizations:
    Secure required prior authorizations or pre-certifications for specialized treatments, surgeries, or diagnostics.
  • Communicate Costs:
    Inform patients of expected out-of-pocket financial responsibilities prior to receiving care.
  • Update Records:
    Accurately enter demographic and insurance data into practice management or electronic medical record (EMR) software.
  • Coordinate and manage patient referrals in a timely and efficient manner
  • Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to ensure smooth referral process
  • Obtain necessary medical records and documentation for referrals
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Assist in medical coding and billing processes related to referrals
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records and documentation
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and address any concerns or questions
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in a medical office or dental office setting preferred
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, and managed care processes
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Proficient in using office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
