Office Manager (224645-04) This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys taking ownership of staff, daily operations, patient flow, and administrative follow-through. The priority is proven management ability, initiative, and accountability—not prior optical experience. This person will initially be a highly visible patient-facing/front-office resource and, with training, become a secondary optical resource. Hours Full-time, 8:00am - 5:30pm Location Honolulu, Oahu Pay $26 to $28 an hour Responsibilities Own day-to-day practice operations and keep routine staff/workflow problems from defaulting to the doctor. Manage staff expectations, priorities, productivity, accountability, and follow-through; address recurring issues respectfully and consistently. Direct daily workflow and decide what needs attention during both busy and slow periods. Help recruit, screen, interview, onboard, train, coach, and develop employees, including future front-desk staff. Know when an issue can be handled independently and when it truly requires the Doctor's decision or escalation. Lead a brief morning huddle to review the day's schedule, staffing, priorities, special patient needs, and anticipated workflow issues. Create and maintain staff schedules, coordinate routine coverage needs, and bring significant staffing conflicts or overtime concerns to the Doctor. Work with the Doctor to plan staff meetings, identify agenda items, communicate expectations, and follow up on action items after meetings. Coordinate and schedule vendor and representative visits at appropriate times so they do not disrupt patient care. Initially serve as a primary front-office resource: warmly greet patients, monitor arrivals and flow, and help create a polished patient experience. Oversee scheduling accuracy, insurance readiness, patient communication, and front-office follow-through. Review the next day's visit status and schedule for missing information, authorization issues, incorrect appointment types, or workflow concerns; delegate corrections before the clinic day. Help send patient statements and keep established administrative and accounts-receivable processes moving. Provide backup for phones, texts, emails, scheduling, checkout, and copay collection as needed while maintaining management oversight. Qualifications Prior management, supervisory, or team-lead experience required. Demonstrated initiative, judgment, organization, follow-through, delegation, and comfort holding employees accountable. Warm, confident customer-service style with strong written and verbal communication. Willing to work hands-on while still maintaining oversight of the whole practice. Humble, coachable, dependable, and comfortable learning new systems and optical skills. Medical, dental, optometry, optical, retail-management, hospitality, or other service-business experience is helpful but not required
