Land Use Administrative Assistant - Economic Development Committee Town of Hanson MA Hanson, MA Job Details Part-time From $25.63 an hour 9 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Word processing Executive administrative support High school diploma or GED Driver's License Data entry Full Job Description Summary Position is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to the Economic Development Committee and general administrative support to both the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). Economic Development Committee work involves coordinating meetings and hearings, preparing official documents, maintaining records, outreach and events and interacting extensively with the public and various Town departments. Secondary responsibilities include providing administrative support to the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. The Economic Development Committee responsibilities are a regular and primary component of this position. Remaining work hours will be assigned based on the administrative needs and priorities of the Land Use Department. Assignments may support the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Director of Land Use/Town Planner, departmental projects, public records management, permitting administration, or general office operations. The position is expected to provide meaningful administrative capacity and coverage rather than being limited exclusively to Economic Development Committee meeting preparation Essential Functions (The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Serves as the primary administrative staff member for the Economic Development Committee. Assists in coordinating regular and special meetings and events of the Economic Development Committee. Prepares and posts meeting agendas and public hearing notices in compliance with Open Meeting Law. Evening meeting or event attendance required. Meeting time shall be paid at the employee's regular hourly rate. If employee is required to work in excess of 35 hours in a week, ,the overtime provisions in the cba shall apply to time worked in excess of 35 hours. Draft Economic Development Committee meeting minutes, files approved meeting minutes with the Town Clerk, and posts minutes online. Tracks Committee projects, assignments, deadlines, events, outreach efforts, and follow-up items. Drafts correspondence, notices, surveys, outreach materials, informational documents, reports, and presentations at the direction of the Economic Development Committee or Town Planner and Director of Land Use. Assists with communications to local businesses, property owners, nonprofit organizations, regional partners, residents, and other stakeholders. Assists in updating department webpages with meeting information, forms, and decisions. May perform general administrative duties such as ordering supplies and handling mail. Assists the ZBA and Planning Board Administrative Assistant with application processing, document preparation, mailings, scanning, filing, data entry, records organization, and meeting preparation. Performs tasks relating to public records request. Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent and one to three years of relevant experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification and experience. Associates degree preferred.

Works under general direction of Planning and Director of Land Use. Employee independently plans and prioritizes work following standard practices. New assignments include defined objectives and deadlines. Policy or procedural changes are discussed with supervisors. Working knowledge of personal computer hardware and office software (word processing, spread sheet applications) in support of department operations. Team-oriented.

Skill:
Organizational, planning, writing, interpersonal/collaborative communication, resourcefulness and discretion; computer skills that encompass effective use of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, email, social media, and internet browser. Skill and ability to communicate with general public.
Pay:
From $25.63 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 per week
