Job Description

We are a growing OB/GYN practice, with locations in Canton and also Dearborn and looking to expand our team! We are searching for a reliable Medical Assistant/Front Office team member to perform front office duties and who will also be cross-trained for medical assistant clinical duties to potentially work at both locations . This position offers the opportunity for advancement, and it's a great opportunity for nursing or med students. Must have a flexible work schedule.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Front Office Responsibilities Obtain and accurately document required patient registration information. Answer multi-line telephone system and respond to voicemail messages in a timely manner. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits. Schedule and coordinate patient appointments. Print patient orders and ensure they are sent to the appropriate facility or location. Greet and assist patients and visitors in a professional, courteous manner. Enter and maintain patient information in the EMR; experience with Athena is a plus. Return patient phone calls and address routine patient needs promptly. Medical Assistant Responsibilities Prepare and room patients for appointments, including obtaining vital signs and other required measurements. Obtain and document patient medical histories and update problem lists. Enter prescription orders and other clinical information into the EMR. Assist physicians and other providers with in-office procedures. Prepare, clean, and maintain examination rooms and clinical areas. Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens according to office procedures. Provide support to providers and clinical staff as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced medical office and is comfortable balancing front-office and clinical responsibilities. Professional appearance and positive, professional attitude. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time efficiently. Flexible and dependable with work hours and scheduling needs. Computer proficient and comfortable learning new software and technology. Experience with EMR systems preferred; Athena experience is a plus. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Resourceful and proactive when addressing problems or unexpected situations. Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team. Positive, friendly, and uplifting attitude when interacting with patients and coworkers.
WORK SCHEDULE
Position is expected to be 16-36 hours weekly, (more hours could be available depending on different physician's schedules) no weekends or holidays. Candidate must be available and willing to work a flexible schedule. Must have own/reliable transportation. Must be available as early as 8:30am and as late as 5:30pm when the need arises.
Compensation:
$16-$18 per hour depending on experience
