Description Venango County Association for the Blind is seeking a dependable, organized, and compassionate individual to join our small team as a full-time Programs Assistant. This is a varied position for someone who enjoys both working with people and keeping things organized behind the scenes. No two days are the same. The Programs Assistant provides administrative support in the office while also assisting individuals who are blind or visually impaired with transportation, appointments, agency activities, provides screenings and eye health and safety education, and other program needs. What You'll Do Provide transportation and assistance to clients for medical appointments, grocery shopping, and other approved activities
Safely guide and assist individuals who are blind or visually impaired from door to door and throughout appointments when needed
Answer phones, monitor voicemail, take messages, and assist with general office communication
Schedule appointments, annual client reviews, and other program activities
Complete data entry and maintain accurate client and program records
Prepare letters, forms, mailings, and other routine documents
Assist staff with agency programs, events, educational activities, and community outreach
Help maintain organized files, records, vehicles, and program materials
Provide general administrative support to agency staff
Perform other duties necessary to support the day-to-day operation of a small nonprofit organization Who We're Looking For The right person for this position will be: Dependable and punctual
Organized and able to keep track of multiple responsibilities
Comfortable working independently while also being part of a small team
Patient, respectful, and comfortable working one-on-one with clients
Able to communicate professionally with clients, families, medical offices, community partners, and coworkers
Willing to learn proper sighted-guide techniques and other skills for assisting individuals with vision loss
Able to recognize what needs to be done and follow a task through to completion
Comfortable with computers, email, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and basic data entry
Flexible and able to adjust when schedules or client needs change Position Requirements High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Ability to safely operate agency vehicles
Ability to pass required background clearances
Ability to perform the physical responsibilities associated with assisting clients and agency activities Previous experience in an office, human services, healthcare, transportation, or customer service setting is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person.
