Job Description

Franklin County Elections is looking to add temporary workers to assist during election periods. Our Mission is to facilitate honest, transparent and accurate elections. We are looking for reliable, team oriented individuals who will bring their integrity to help support the Elections Process. This position is part time, on-call and is subject to change with short notice, dependent on election turnout. Temporary Election work is needed up to 4 times per year with varying work schedules, assignments and hours. This recruitment may be used to fill future openings, which might occur within 90 days of the closing of this posting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Assist with b allot processing following a set procedure:
  • working in teams of two processing batches of ballots
  • inventorying ballot counts
  • inspecting ballot conditions and voter intent
  • prepare ballots for scanning
  • complete corresponding data section on batch form Assist with closing of ballot drop boxes on
Election Night:
  • help to secure ballot box with dual log & seal closing procedures
  • assist with traffic flow when needed
  • greet voters and assist with general inquiries
  • help staff secure any late ballots after drop boxes are closed
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • high school diploma, or G.E.D.
  • must possess a valid Washington State driver's license, proof of insurance and have ability to drive at night (if required for certain tasks)
  • must pass a security background check
  • must be a registered voter and maintain voter eligibility
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
  • ability to count accurately, write legibly and perform repetitive motions for an extended period
  • ability to work flexible hours and shifts, that may include weekends
  • perform work with speed and accuracy, with particular attention to detail
  • have reliable transportation to be at Ballot Box at 7:45pm on Election night
  • able to left objects weighing up to 20 pounds
