Typing Bookkeeping Full Job Description Chicopee Housing Authority Position Description:
CLERK /RECEPTIONIST
Principal Duties:
1. Receive and process telephone calls and visitors to proper person. 2. Attend counter and collect tenant rents, etc. 3. Maintain tenant files, accounts, and records. 4. Responsible for the control of petty cash, disbursing small amounts of monies, receiving receipts and reconciling disbursements with receipts. 5. Operate a variety of office machines, such as: calculator, typewriter, photocopier, word processor, and computer terminal. 6. Prepare and type reports for submissions to appropriate State/Federal agencies. 7. Prove cash daily and prepare bank deposits. 8. Perform other related duties of the class as assigned by the Administrative Assistant, Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director. 9. Carry out all policies as set by the Chicopee Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.
Knowledge, Skills, and Duties:
1. Considerable knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices. 2. Working knowledge of office practices and procedures. 3. Ability to make moderately complex arithmetical computations quickly and accurately. 4. Ability to read and post figures quickly and accurately. 5. Skill in typing. 6. Ability to operate office machines such as: calculator, typewriter, photocopier, computer, etc., 7. Ability to follow oral and written instruction. 8. Basic knowledge of security measures to protect cash and other valuable, negotiable instruments. 9. Ability to work harmoniously with others. 10. Fluency in second language is highly desirable. 11. Ability to be bonded.
Suggested Training/Experience:
The successful completion of high school level courses in bookkeeping, typing, and office practices is required, (two years of practical experience in bookkeeping and/or typing would be evidence of attaining the necessary training), experience with automated office equipment such as word processor and computer terminal is essential. Candidates must have a working knowledge of business math and business English. Fluency in a second language is desirable and may be required in certain instances.
Starting Wage:
$20.04/hour. Union tier-based wage increases start after first 6 months of employment.
