Land Use Control Specialist

Job Description

Salary Information Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n•A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations•\r\n Nature of Work The fundamental reason this classification\r\nexists is to provide support to the Planning Commission and the Board of\r\nAdjustment through zoning and development plan application review.
Work\r\nresponsibilities include:
processing applications for the Planning Commission\r\nand the Board of Adjustment review; performing technical zoning duties; and\r\ncommunicating with the developers and citizens and performing other duties as\r\nneeded. Employees report directly to the Land Use Control Administrator or the\r\nAssistant Land Use Control Administrator.\r\n Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in planning,\r\ngeography, public administration, business administration or a closely related\r\nfield, and two (2) years of experience working with city zoning and/or\r\ncity-wide property development.\r\n\r\n\r\n

�\r\nQualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite\r\nknowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n\r\n Special Requirements Ability to attain certification\r\nas a Certified Alabama Planning and Zoning official (CAPZO) within one (1) year\r\nof employment.\r\n Kind of Examination Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with the�City of Montgomery Inspections Department. Applicants will be screened and qualified based on the education and experience on the application and attached supplemental questionnaire.�For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application and supplemental questionnaire�form completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, a selection procedure will be�administered to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken.
