EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
H igh school diploma or equivalent and one-year related experience.JOB SUMMARY
To provide intermediate skills in the operation of a large telephone switchboard system.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Operates telephone switchboard to establish or assist customers in making local or long-distance telephone connections. Routes all incoming and outgoing telephone calls placed through the switchboard. Provides answering service for various UTMB clinics after hours. Assists doctors, students, and other staff members on problems with their pagers. Provides information to callers and records messages. Keeps records of calls placed and charges incurred. Adheres to internal controls established for department. Performs related duties as required.WORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENT
Standard office / telecommunications environment. Central switchboard console, Western Union Telex, and Radio Page System.SALARY RANGE
Actual salary commensurate with experience.WORK SCHEDULE
Float position with a variable schedule based on departmental staffing needs. Must be available to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to provide coverage for a department operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Training will be provided.
