Job Description

Conservation Specialist Pawhuska - Pawhuska, OK 74056 Apply Overview Position Type Regular Full-Time Job Shift Day Education Level High School Travel Percentage None Category Other Apply Description The Conservation Specialist has a diverse set of responsibilities including general land stewardship, development, and maintenance of acreage under the purview of the Department of Natural Resources. The Conservation Specialist will assist in a variety of land management activities, often requiring field work in a variety of environmental conditions. Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in natural resource ecology, biology, animal science, or related degree preferred. Minimum of five years of livestock experience required, some experience must be related to bison Preparing livestock for processing, specifically feedlot experience, is preferred Minimum two years prescribed burn/wildland fire experience preferred Must possess ability to write and speak effectively Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees within a diverse workforce Experience in small engine repair/maintenance of machinery and equipment preferred Must obtain/develop familiarity of Osage language and culture Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics Requires a high level of problem solving skills Must maintain confidentiality at all times Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions Must be able to pass a criminal background check Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing Must have a valid driver's license - may be required to drive GSA or Nation vehicles Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or be willing to obtain this license within one year of employment Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
