General Manager Position Overview Arrowhead Golf Club is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Maintenance Technician II•Horticulturist to join our team for the upcoming season. Reporting directly to the General Manager , this position serves as the primary caretaker for all plant life across the property. You will lead the design, planting, upkeep, and health management of annuals, perennials, ornamental grasses, shrubs, and feature gardens. While distinct from the daily golf grounds crew, this role plays a vital part in maintaining the club's overall curb appeal, supporting venue aesthetics around the Timberlodge, and collaborating on general property landscaping and maintenance projects as needed. Primary Responsibilities Botanical & Horticultural Care (Primary Focus)

Plant Stewardship:

Serve as the lead caretaker for all gardens, flower beds, hanging baskets, container plantings, and display areas around the clubhouse, Timberlodge banquet facility, and property entrances.

Seasonal Planting & Upkeep:

Handle soil prep, planting, weeding, mulching, deadheading, pruning, and dividing ornamental plants and shrubs. Plant Health & Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Monitor for pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and water stress; execute targeted fertilization, treatment, and watering schedules.

Irrigation Monitoring:

Oversee localized drip and hand-watering schedules for display beds and containers to ensure optimal growth throughout the season. Venue Maintenance & Landscaping Support Maintain pristine, "wedding-ready" aesthetics around event venues, patios, walkways, and guest areas. Execute hedge trimming, bed edging, string trimming, and mulch application for non-golf course grounds. Assist with property setup and grounds detail work ahead of major venue events, weddings, and tournaments. Support general facility and property maintenance tasks as assigned by the General Manager. Collaboration Coordinate with the General Manager on seasonal property improvement projects, plant budgets, and visual presentation goals. Aesthetics:

Strong artistic sense for bed layout, color blending, and maintaining the high visual standards expected at a premier golf and event facility.

Botanical Expertise:

Solid understanding of plant biology, local Western New York growing conditions (Zone 6a), soil management, and pest/disease identification.

Self-Motivated & Observational:

Ability to inspect the property independently, spot issues (e.g., wilting, weeds, pests) early, and take initiative without constant direction.

Adaptable & Detail-Oriented:

Willing to balance delicate plant care with broader venue maintenance tasks based on event schedules and seasonal demands.

Reliable & Punctual:

Consistency during early morning shifts to ensure grounds work is completed before peak event traffic and guest arrivals.

Qualifications & Requirements Experience:

2+ years of experience in horticulture, landscape design, greenhouse care, nursery operations, or fine estate gardening.

Education:

Degree or coursework in Horticulture, Plant Sciences, Landscape Management, or related field preferred (relevant hands-on experience strongly valued).

Physical Demands:

Ability to work outdoors in varying Western New York weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods.

Equipment Safety:

Proficiency operating hand tools, string trimmers, utility carts, and backpack sprayers safely.

Licensing:

Valid driver's license required. NYS Pesticide Applicator/Technician license is a plus (or willingness to obtain under supervision).

Schedule & Working Conditions Season:

Early Spring (April/May) through Late Fall (October/November).

Hours:

Full-time seasonal. Early morning start times. Weekend or holiday flexibility may be required around major events and weather demands.

Pay:

$22.00•$26.00 per hour
