Seed Processing & Packaging Employee We are looking for a dependable, hard-working employee to work in our seed processing and packaging facility. We process many different types of seed, including flower, vegetable, grass, native and other specialty seed crops . This is a hands-on, physical job involving seed processing, packaging, equipment operation, shipping and receiving, and cleanup. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work well with other employees. This position has the opportunity to develop into a regular full-time position for the right employee. Job Duties Operate and assist with seed processing and packaging equipment. Process and package many different types and varieties of seed. Package seed in bags weighing up to 50 lbs. Lift and stack bags of seed onto pallets. Shrink-wrap and band finished pallets for storage or shipment. Assist with shipping and receiving seed and other materials. Load, unload and move seed, pallets, bins and supplies. Set up processing equipment for different seed varieties and seed lots. Follow written instructions for processing orders and preparing seed mixes and blends . Accurately complete paperwork for processing, mixing, packaging and orders. Clean processing equipment thoroughly between different seed varieties and lots. Use compressed air to blow down and clean processing equipment and production lines. Clean, move and stack metal seed bins. Perform general cleanup and keep the processing and warehouse areas organized. Operate a forklift when trained and qualified. Physical & Work Requirements This is an active, physical position . Applicants need to be comfortable with lifting and working on their feet throughout the day. Must be able to repeatedly lift and handle 50 lb. bags of seed . Heavy and awkward lifting may be required at times. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, carry and stack materials throughout the workday. Must be willing to perform physical cleanup and equipment setup. Processing and cleanup operations can be dusty at times . Must be comfortable working around agricultural and seed-processing equipment. Must be able to work safely around equipment and follow safety instructions. Qualifications Must be dependable and show up for scheduled work on time . Must have reliable transportation to and from work. Must be able to work well with others and be part of a team . Must be able to communicate with supervisors and coworkers. Must be able to read, understand and follow written instructions. Must be able to complete paperwork accurately. Good attention to detail is important. Different seed varieties and lots must be kept separate, and mixes and blends must be prepared correctly. Forklift experience is beneficial but not required. Training can be provided. Previous agricultural, warehouse, processing or equipment experience is helpful but not required for someone willing and able to learn. Work Schedule Current work schedule is generally:
Monday-Friday:
6:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Saturday:
6:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. as needed During the busy summer and harvest season, additional days, longer hours and overtime may be required . Pay & Opportunity Starting wage: $16.00-$16.50 per hour , depending on experience and capabilities. There is opportunity to learn additional processing and equipment skills, take on more responsibility and increase earnings based on performance and ability.
