Job Description

Horticulturist Northampton Country Club - Easton, Pennsylvania Northampton Country Club is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Horticulturist to join our Grounds and Maintenance team. This position is responsible for the care, maintenance, and enhancement of plant material throughout the clubhouse grounds, golf course, and surrounding property. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of horticultural practices, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while also directing a small grounds maintenance team. Position Responsibilities Oversee the selection, installation, and ongoing care of plant material throughout the clubhouse grounds and golf course. Plan and maintain seasonal flower displays, planting beds, shrubs, trees, and other landscape areas. Perform and oversee proper planting, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and general plant maintenance. Monitor plants and landscaped areas for disease, pests, damage, and other problems and recommend appropriate corrective measures. Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other products in accordance with applicable regulations and safety requirements. Maintain planting beds and landscaped areas through mechanical and chemical weed control. Maintain and improve the overall appearance and aesthetics of the Club's grounds. Evaluate existing plant material and make recommendations for replacements, improvements, and new landscape installations. Assist with clubhouse grounds, swimming pool lawn, tennis court areas, and other property maintenance as needed. Perform mowing, string trimming, mulching, shrub trimming, flower planting, leaf removal, and removal of small tree limbs. Assist with minor repairs and general upkeep of grounds-related facilities and outdoor furniture. Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent to coordinate grounds and horticultural activities. Direct and provide daily guidance to a small grounds maintenance staff. Help ensure assigned areas are maintained to a high standard throughout the year. Maintain current knowledge of horticultural practices, products, equipment, and industry developments through continuing education and training. Perform other grounds and horticulture-related duties as assigned. Benefits Health Insurance 401(k) Uniforms Golf privileges Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; degree or formal education in Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, Landscape Management, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in horticulture, landscape maintenance, grounds maintenance, or a related field preferred. Strong knowledge of plant materials and their proper care and maintenance. Knowledge of pruning, planting, watering, fertilizing, pest management, weed control, and bed maintenance. Ability to identify common plant health issues and determine appropriate corrective actions. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities. Previous supervisory or crew-lead experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining attractive, well-kept grounds. Willingness to train the right candidate with the appropriate work ethic and interest in horticulture. Licenses & Requirements Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required. Pennsylvania Commercial Pesticide Applicator License required or ability to obtain within 90 days. Ability to safely operate grounds and horticultural equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to work cooperatively with Club staff and provide direction to a small maintenance team.
