About Vote Blue Vote Blue is a premier national field firm. We partner with organizations working to solve some of the biggest problems facing our society - from protecting reproductive rights to fighting climate change - and help them build the resources they need to make an impact. We are a people-powered enterprise; our campaigns are effective because we hire diverse teams of talented people, invest in our staff, and treat them well. Canvass Directors will recruit, train, and manage a team of local canvassers to contact potential voters in critical areas of Arizona. Canvass Directors will work within the director team to build an office to scale from the ground up. All Directors are expected to train staff in the field while leading by example and canvassing themselves; they must also communicate long and short term goals to staff and manage campaign reporting. The Lead Director manages the Deputy Directors and reports to the Project Director. The Deputy Directors manage canvassers and Team Leads and reports to the Lead Director.
The ideal candidate:
Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy Has strong communication skills and should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone Open to new challenges and are interested in building their campaign and leadership skills Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community We are hiring immediately to start early to asap. This position will run through November 5th, 2026, with potential opportunities in the near and distant future.
Locations:
Phoenix, AZ. Strong preference for in-state candidates, short-term travel may be required.
Canvass Management Responsibilities:
Manage a team of 15-40 hourly staff who will be knocking on doors Set goals and hold staff accountable Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff Identify, promote, and train a leadership team Build a diverse team where staff feel respected, while fostering a culture of equity and justice Implement quality control measures to ensure integrity of the work Go in the field yourself a few days per week to canvass, train staff, and help drive office goals Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff Develop strategic plans to reach registered voters in assigned locations Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials
Qualifications:
Must have Leadership experience, ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement Track record of equity and inclusion Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends Nice-to-have Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees Experience door-to-door canvassing Familiarity with VAN (Voter Activation Network or Votebuilder) and/or MiniVAN Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities Facilitation experience Local knowledge/experience
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $1,150 - $1,450 per week. We offer a generous benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and hands-on training.
