Job Description

Role Overview:
The Grounds, Equipment & Landscape Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for tree and plant care, landscape maintenance, drip irrigation, wildflower planting and maintenance, and pruning. A major function of this position is the property's herbicide application program, including terrestrial herbicide application in river bottoms, uplands, forested areas, trails, roadsides, and landscape beds; aquatic herbicide application in ponds, canals, wetlands, and other water features; and supervision of mechanical weed removal. This position may also operate or assist in the operation of unmanned aerial systems (drones) as part of the herbicide application and vegetation monitoring program. The position supports the health, appearance, and long-term care of the property's landscaped and natural areas. Vehicle maintenance, equipment maintenance, snow operations, and general property work are secondary duties performed as needed.
Job Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
o Two or more years of experience in landscaping, horticulture, tree care, irrigation, grounds maintenance, or a related field. o Working knowledge of trees, shrubs, plants, soils, drip irrigation, pruning, weed control, and seasonal landscape maintenance. o Ability to identify common plant health, irrigation, pest, and weed issues and report or correct them as appropriate. o Ability to safely operate landscape, agricultural, and snow removal equipment. o Ability to safely apply aquatic and terrestrial herbicides and to obtain and maintain the applicable state pesticide/herbicide applicator license or certification, or willingness to obtain such licensure if required. o Basic mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance experience. o Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. o Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working on uneven terrain. o Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind. o Ability to safely operate motorized equipment and power tools. o Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. o All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of background and reference checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Wildflower, native plant, or habitat management experience. Experience supervising contractors or crews performing mechanical weed or aquatic vegetation removal. FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, or willingness to obtain one. Federal requirements for this certificate include being at least 16 years of age; being able to read, speak, write, and understand English; being in a physical and mental condition to safely operate a drone; and passing the FAA Aeronautical Knowledge Test, Unmanned Aircraft General ("UAG"), administered at an FAA-approved testing center. Responsibilities (Primary): Plant, water, fertilize, mulch, stake, and maintain trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, and ornamental landscape beds. Monitor trees and plants for overall health, water needs, pests, disease, nutrient deficiencies, and physical damage. Perform routine tree establishment and care, including watering newly planted trees, maintaining tree wells, adjusting stakes and supports, and protecting trunks and root zones. Prune trees, shrubs, and landscape plants to promote health, safety, structure, clearance, and appearance. Perform seasonal landscape work including planting, transplanting, deadheading, bed preparation, mulching, leaf removal, and cleanup. Establish and maintain wildflower meadows, native plantings, and naturalized landscape areas, including site preparation, seeding, watering, weed management, and seasonal mowing or cleanup. Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair drip irrigation systems and related components. Adjust irrigation schedules and watering methods based on plant needs, weather, soil conditions, and efficient water use. Repair leaks, damaged lines, emitters, valves, filters, controllers, and other irrigation components. Perform seasonal irrigation startup, routine inspections, system adjustments, and winterization. Control weeds in landscape beds, tree wells, wildflower areas, trails, roadsides, and other maintained grounds using mechanical, cultural, and approved chemical methods. Apply herbicides and other landscape products in accordance with label requirements, company procedures, and applicable regulations. Plan, schedule, and carry out the property's herbicide application program, including terrestrial herbicide application in river bottoms, uplands, forested areas, trails, and roadsides. Apply aquatic herbicides to ponds, canals, wetlands, and other water features in accordance with label requirements, permits, and applicable state and federal regulations. Supervise and coordinate mechanical removal of weeds and aquatic vegetation, including contractor- or crew-based cutting, mowing, harvesting, and hand-pulling operations. Operate or assist in the operation of unmanned aerial systems (drones) for herbicide application, vegetation monitoring, and site assessment, where authorized and permitted. Maintain required state pesticide/herbicide applicator licensing or certification, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations governing herbicide storage, mixing, application, and disposal. Maintain accurate records of irrigation repairs, watering schedules, herbicide and weed-control applications (including product, rate, location, and weather conditions), plantings, and significant tree or plant health issues. Maintain landscape tools, irrigation supplies, plant materials, and work areas in a clean and organized condition. Responsibilities (Secondary): Perform routine inspections, fluid checks, cleaning, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on property vehicles and equipment. Maintain service schedules and maintenance records for trucks, UTVs, tractors, loaders, mowers, trailers, and other fleet assets. Operate and maintain mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, blowers, pumps, hand tools, tractors, loaders, skid steers, utility vehicles, and similar equipment. Operate plow trucks, loaders, skid steers, tractors, snow blowers, and other snow removal equipment. Perform snow plowing and removal on roads, driveways, parking areas, walkways, and facility access points. Apply sand, de-icing materials, and other winter safety treatments as directed. Respond to snow and weather events during evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-standard work hours when necessary. Assist with fencing, trails, roadsides, construction support, property improvement projects, facility maintenance, and general property operations. Support other departments and special projects as assigned. Family Visits Schedule:
Scheduling availability may include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, in addition to the regular workweek. Work hours may vary based on season, family residency periods, guest visits, and special events. Subject to PTO blackout period (May-October), unless prior approval is obtained for special life events.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
