$23.00-$26.00 per hour, based on experience Benefits 401(k) Health insurance stipend Paid time off Company-provided uniforms and required protective equipment Opportunities for advancement Relocation assistance, when applicable Position Summary JC Landscape & Tree LLC is seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-conscious Mower Operator to maintain residential and commercial properties throughout the Quad Cities area.
The Mower Operator is responsible for professional mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, and general property maintenance. This position helps ensure that every property is left clean, healthy, and professionally maintained according to company and customer expectations.
The successful candidate must be comfortable operating commercial mowing equipment, working outdoors in changing weather conditions, and completing physically demanding work throughout the day. Strong attention to detail, dependability, teamwork, and safe equipment operation are required. Primary Responsibilities Operate commercial zero-turn mowers, riding mowers, push mowers, trimmers, edgers, and blowers safely and efficiently. Mow residential and commercial properties according to established company and customer standards. Trim around buildings, trees, signs, landscape beds, fences, sidewalks, and other property features. Edge sidewalks, curbs, driveways, pathways, and landscape beds as required. Blow grass clippings and debris from sidewalks, parking lots, entrances, patios, and other hard surfaces. Remove grass clippings, leaves, litter, branches, and other debris from serviced properties. Maintain clean, orderly, and professional-looking properties after each service. Follow assigned mowing routes, property notes, customer instructions, and daily schedules. Avoid damage to turf, buildings, vehicles, trees, landscape beds, irrigation systems, and customer property. Monitor turf conditions and report signs of weeds, pests, disease, uneven growth, drainage problems, or other concerns. Assist with planting, mulching, seasonal cleanups, aeration, and other landscape-maintenance services when assigned. Communicate job-site concerns, delays, property damage, customer issues, or incomplete work to a supervisor. Complete all other duties assigned by management. Equipment Care and Maintenance Conduct daily inspections of mowers, trucks, trailers, and handheld equipment. Check blades, belts, tires, fluid levels, filters, guards, grease fittings, and other equipment components. Clean grass, dirt, and debris from mowing equipment regularly. Assist with routine maintenance, including greasing fittings, cleaning filters, changing blades, and sharpening blades when properly trained. Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment safely. Immediately report equipment damage, mechanical problems, or unsafe operating conditions. Help maintain clean and organized trucks, trailers, equipment, and work areas. Safety Expectations Follow all company safety procedures and equipment-operation requirements. Wear required personal protective equipment at all times. Operate equipment safely around pedestrians, vehicles, buildings, roadways, parking lots, and public areas. Remain aware of underground utilities, irrigation components, landscape lighting, property markers, and other potential hazards. Immediately report accidents, injuries, property damage, equipment damage, and unsafe conditions. Never operate equipment in an unsafe or careless manner. Work cooperatively with crew members to maintain a safe and productive job site. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record required. Previous experience operating mowing, trimming, and edging equipment. Experience operating commercial zero-turn mowers preferred. Basic mechanical ability for routine equipment inspections, care, and troubleshooting. Strong attention to detail and pride in producing clean, professional results. Familiarity with common lawn-care and turf-maintenance practices. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to follow mowing routes, schedules, property notes, and customer requirements. Dependable attendance and reliable transportation to the assigned work location. Ability to work independently and as part of a crew. Ability to communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and customers. Commitment to workplace safety and responsible equipment operation. Preferred Qualifications Experience operating commercial zero-turn mowers and other professional lawn-maintenance equipment. Experience driving company trucks and safely pulling equipment trailers. Experience loading, securing, transporting, and unloading mowing equipment. Knowledge of local turf varieties and seasonal lawn-care requirements. Familiarity with aeration, fertilization, weed control, irrigation systems, planting, and mulching. Previous landscaping, commercial property-maintenance, or grounds-maintenance experience. Relevant equipment-operation, landscaping, or workplace-safety training. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday. Ability to safely enter and exit trucks, trailers, and commercial mowing equipment. Ability to work outdoors for extended periods. Ability to work around noise, vibration, dust, dirt, grass, pollen, fuel, and landscaping materials. Ability to perform physically demanding work in heat, cold, humidity, wind, and light rain. Working Conditions This is a full-time outdoor position. Work hours may vary depending on weather conditions, seasonal workload, lawn-growth cycles, and customer needs.
Weekend work may occasionally be required during periods of heavy workload, weather delays, or seasonal demand. Employees must be prepared to work near pedestrian areas, roadways, parking lots, customer properties, and active commercial locations.
