Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Worker Lombard Park District - 4.0 Lombard, IL Job Details Seasonal $16 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid training Employee discount Qualifications Outdoor work experience Customer service Driver's License Attention to detail Problem-solving Full Job Description Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Worker and play a vital role assisting full-time staff with maintaining beautiful, safe, and functional outdoor spaces for the Lombard community. This position involves performing a variety of landscaping and groundskeeping to ensure athletic fields, parks, and other recreational areas are in top condition. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions, utilizing your skills in landscape maintenance and equipment operation to deliver excellent grounds care. Problem solving skills with a strong sense of safety to adjust to shifting priorities while acting calmly and effectively under pressure or in emergency situations. Must be in good physical condition and have sufficient strength to perform manual labor and be on your feet for extended periods of time. This seasonal role offers an exciting opportunity to develop hands-on experience in groundskeeping while contributing to community spaces that inspire activity and enjoyment. This position requires a motivated individual with a passion for outdoor work, attention to detail in landscape care, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Prior experience in groundskeeping or horticulture is beneficial but not mandatory—training will be provided for the right candidate eager to learn! Responsibilities Perform routine landscape maintenance including mowing, edging, trimming, planting, and fertilizing to keep grounds healthy and visually appealing. Operate a variety of groundskeeping equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and power tools safely and effectively. Conduct athletic field groundskeeping tasks including raking, aerating, seeding, and marking sports fields for safe play. Assist with special event set-up and take-down and clean up as needed. Assist with routine trash collection and related duties to ensure grounds and facilities are clean and safe. Assist with snow removal at entrances, sidewalks, and other areas as assigned. Ability to operate hand tools safely and efficiently while following power tool safety protocols. Assist with equipment maintenance by cleaning, inspecting, and performing minor repairs on tools and machinery. Support overall grounds maintenance efforts through effective communication, reporting safety hazards and/or equipment malfunction, and providing quality customer service. Experience and some knowledge of landscape maintenance practices including gardening, lawn care, athletic field and landscaping techniques highly desired. A valid driver's license and capable of operating company vehicles responsibly for transporting equipment or materials across work sites. Adequate sight and hearing to perform essential functions of the job with moderate exposure to dirt, dust, gas, oil, herbicides, paint, chalk, airborne particles, and noise from equipment operation.
Hours:
Generally, Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Benefits include the following while actively working: Individual Fitness Membership at Madison Meadow Athletic Center.
