Job Description

THE POSITION
Are you ready to support reliable operations and essential transportation services? As an Equipment Operator B with Danville State Hospital, you will play a key part in keeping daily functions running securely and efficiently. This role allows you to operate a wide range of vehicles and tools that help support patients, staff, and hospital operations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on safely operating vehicles and equipment that facilitate patient transportation, grounds upkeep, and daily maintenance needs at Danville State Hospital. It plays an important role in keeping workflows smooth and ensuring equipment is ready for use at all times. As an Equipment Operator B, you will perform the following duties:
Vehicle Operation:
Drive lightweight and medium weight trucks to support maintenance and seasonal needs
Transportation Support:
Operate cars, vans, and pickup trucks to provide patient and staff transportation
Bus Operation:
Drive medium weight busses to support transportation on and off hospital grounds
Material Handling:
Deliver items and move equipment by loading and unloading as required
Grounds Equipment Use:
Operate tractors, loaders, mowers, and other tools to support grounds care
Equipment Maintenance:
Follow preventive schedules and assist mechanics to keep vehicles and tools operational
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs. Overtime and travel as operationally necessary

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirement:
You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Conditions of Employment:
You must possess a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) and air brake endorsement, in order to meet operational needs. You must obtain a passenger endorsement within six months of employment.
