Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Aviary Maintenance Technician to ensure the health, safety, and optimal functioning of our bird enclosures and surrounding environments. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining aviary structures, managing pest control measures, handling chemicals safely, and supporting the overall well-being of our avian residents. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and maintenance of aviary structures, including ladders, fencing, and enclosures to ensure safety and durability. Apply pest control treatments using approved chemicals while following pesticide management guidelines and integrated pest management strategies. Handle chemical agents responsibly, including mixing, applying, and disposing of pesticides or other substances in accordance with safety protocols. Use hand tools and farm machinery effectively for habitat repairs, landscaping, or land management tasks around the aviary. Conduct confined space entry procedures safely when accessing hard-to-reach areas within the aviary infrastructure. Operate company vehicles for transporting supplies or equipment to various outdoor work sites while adhering to driving safety standards. Support lawn care, landscaping, farming activities, and general outdoor maintenance to promote a healthy habitat environment. Maintain detailed records of pest control activities, chemical usage, safety inspections, and maintenance logs. Assist with customer service by providing information about the aviary's habitat management efforts when interacting with visitors or team members. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge related to structural repairs and equipment operation. Experience with ladder use and ladder safety procedures to access elevated areas safely. Knowledge of pesticide application techniques, pesticide handling procedures, and integrated pest management practices. Familiarity with chemical agent handling including proper storage, mixing, application, and disposal. Understanding of pest control methods specific to avian habitats and environmental safety standards. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively about habitat maintenance efforts. Ability to operate farm machinery and land management tools efficiently in outdoor settings. Knowledge of farming practices, landscaping techniques, lawn care, and agriculture principles beneficial for habitat upkeep. Adherence to safety protocols related to respiratory protection when handling chemicals or working in enclosed spaces. Valid driver's license with experience operating company vehicles safely; experience with farm machinery is a plus.
