About the Position Hodelford Properties, LLC is seeking a dependable, hands-on Ranch Manager and Property Caretaker to oversee the daily care and maintenance of our ranch property, livestock, grounds, barns, equipment, and supporting systems in Canyon, TX. This is an active, practical role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, caring for animals, maintaining property, and taking pride in keeping a ranch safe, organized, and well maintained. The successful candidate will personally perform routine work while also planning projects, maintaining records, purchasing approved supplies, and coordinating qualified contractors when specialized work is needed. Key Responsibilities Livestock and Horse Care Provide daily feeding, watering, grooming, and general care for ranch animals. Assist with locating and evaluating prospective horses, goats, and a donkey. Assist with turnout, handling, stall cleaning, and other routine horse-care duties. Observe animals for injuries, illness, behavioral changes, or other concerns and promptly notify the owners. Coordinate veterinary and farrier appointments when authorized. Purchase approved feed, bedding, supplements, and animal-care supplies. Grounds and Property Maintenance Mow and trim around the pond, main house, modular houses, barns, and designated yards. Maintain ranch roads, common areas, and other designated portions of the property. Control weeds and insects in gardens, flower beds, lawns, and fields where practical. Perform monthly insect-control treatments as appropriate. Remove brush, fallen limbs, manageable dead trees, and rocks from the valley. Maintain gardens, flower beds, and terraces to keep designated residential areas orderly and attractive. Assist with snow and ice removal and severe-weather preparations when necessary. Barns, Fences, and Equipment Prepare barns and stalls for livestock and maintain them thereafter. Clean stalls and stable areas as needed and thoroughly clean barns at least weekly. Inspect stalls, doors, gates, troughs, and related equipment for damage or safety concerns. Install and maintain fences around the lower valley, livestock areas, and designated residential areas. Maintain tractors and ranch implements, including the plow, tiller, hopper, mower, and sprayer. Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs. Inspect, clean, and maintain ranch golf carts. General Repairs and Property Systems Perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general property repairs within demonstrated experience and ability. Monitor the septic system for visible or operational problems. Regularly inspect and exercise generators according to manufacturer recommendations. Monitor generator fuel, batteries, fluids, and visible operating conditions. Report larger problems promptly and coordinate qualified contractors when authorized. Recommend outside assistance for major fence construction, hazardous tree work, and repairs beyond personal experience or available equipment. Planning, Purchasing, and Recordkeeping Establish weekly and seasonal work priorities in consultation with the owners. Purchase ordinary feed, maintenance supplies, and repair parts within an approved budget. Maintain reasonable records of animal care, equipment service, chemical applications, repairs, and supply purchases. Obtain advance owner approval for animals, major equipment, significant repairs, contractors, and other substantial expenditures. What We're Looking For Dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently. Practical experience with livestock, horses, ranch maintenance, or property caretaking. Ability to perform physical, outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Comfortable operating and maintaining tractors, mowers, sprayers, and other equipment. Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs safely. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Good judgment in identifying problems and knowing when specialized help is needed. Willingness to maintain daily animal-care coverage, including weekends, holidays, and vacation periods as arranged with the owners. Ability to follow instructions, maintain records, and work within approved budgets. Compensation and Benefits Starting salary of $42,000 per year Fully paid health, dental, and vision insurance for the employee and family 401(k) with a company contribution of 3% regardless of employee participation
