Job Description

Position Summary
Job Title:

Grounds Worker / Groundskeeper

Reports To:

Maintenance Director or Grounds Foreman

Primary Purpose:

Maintain safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing landscaping and athletic areas across district properties. Key Responsibilities

Lawn and Turf Care:

Mow, edge, and trim lawns, curbs, and sidewalks. Fertilize, aerate, seed, and control weeds across district property.

Landscaping:

Plant, prune, and care for trees, shrubs, flowers, and flower beds. Mulch planting beds and clear leaves or debris.

Athletic Field Maintenance:

Prepare athletic fields for games by mowing, dragging, chalking lines, and painting stripes.

Grounds Upkeep:

Empty outdoor trash cans, pick up litter from grounds and parking lots, and pressure wash concrete surfaces.

Irrigation and Repairs:

Inspect, clean, and perform minor repairs on sprinkler systems and drainage areas.

Equipment Maintenance:

Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, and light repairs on mowers, tractors, weed eaters, and hand tools.

Safety and Compliance:

Follow strict OSHA and district safety protocols when operating power machinery or handling fertilizers and herbicides. Report unsafe conditions or playground hazards immediately. Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or GED preferred, or basic reading and writing skills.

Experience:

Prior experience in commercial groundskeeping, landscaping, or operating small engine power equipment.

Licenses:

Valid driver's license (often a state driver's license is required to drive district trucks/trailers).

Physical Demands:

Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain), walk or stand for long hours, and regularly lift/carry equipment weighing 45 to 50 pounds or more.

Salary:

$21,715 to $32,928 Per Year
