18455 SW 272nd St, Homestead, FL 33031 Position Overview Andersen Nursery Farms, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Grower to join our team in Homestead, Florida. We are looking for someone with a strong passion for plants, horticulture, and agriculture who can help oversee our growing operations and maintain the high-quality standards of our plant material. The Head Grower will be responsible for plant health, crop quality, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management, propagation, and day-to-day growing operations. This position will work closely with management and the production team. The selected candidate will receive extensive hands-on training on Andersen Nursery Farms' production systems, procedures, standards, and expectations. Key Responsibilities Oversee overall plant health and crop quality. Monitor and manage irrigation and watering programs. Monitor fertilization and plant nutrition programs. Identify and address pest and disease issues. Assist with pest and disease prevention and treatment programs. Monitor soil and growing media conditions. Oversee plant propagation, pruning, and training practices. Monitor greenhouse and outdoor growing conditions. Assist with climate control and environmental management. Coordinate crop schedules and production priorities. Identify plant quality issues and implement corrective actions. Maintain accurate growing and production records. Supervise and support growers and production employees. Assign responsibilities and follow up on work completion. Work closely with management to improve production efficiency and plant quality. Ensure safety procedures and company standards are followed. Support continuous improvement of growing practices and procedures. Experience and Qualifications Minimum of five years of experience in plant cultivation, nursery operations, greenhouse production, gardening, farming, or a related agricultural field preferred. Degree in horticulture or a related field preferred. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of greenhouse operations and plant care. Knowledge of irrigation systems and watering techniques. Understanding of soil management and plant nutrition. Knowledge of pest and disease management. Familiarity with plant propagation and pruning techniques. Basic math skills. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work in an outdoor agricultural environment. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving plant material when necessary. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to learn and participate in extensive company training. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
